Chapter 34At 6:35 pm, Charlie put on her black hoodie and sneakers and told Mom she was walking to Sutra's house to run lines. When Mom told her she could take the car, Charlie said she'd rather walk instead, so she could rehearse along the way.
Five minutes later, Charlie was knocking on the door of Nolan's house according to plan.
After a couple of knocks, Charlie heard the familiar thump of Nolan's approaching feet, then the clack of the bolt sliding out of the lock.
As Nolan peered out into the evening darkness, he looked even grouchier than he had that morning. "What now?"
