Chapter 20Gantry was having an amazing game, and the crowd was loving every minute of it. He started strong, leading Papon Valley on a dazzling series of scoring drives in the first quarter...and he just got better after that, absolutely dominating the second quarter.
Charlie saw it all from field level, sitting in the bottom row of the stands, just behind the home team's bench. But the soaring completions, stunning interceptions, and quarterback runs did not impress her. The crowd's roar grew louder with each play, but Charlie just sat silently and waited, phone in hand, for the one play that no fan expected.
Because of that play, she was just as excited as the crowd...maybe more. And she knew of two others who felt the same way: Gloria and Sutra, who were also awaiting the signal
