Before I Met You

Chapter Eleven

Mara looked straight at Aiden. She didn’t blink. She saw the features of his face. Aiden had slender, masculine build and fair skin. He had a defined triangle head. His eyes were gentle almond. His eyes were blue like the color of the sky. His lips were a classic smirk. She could very well detail everything. To her, Aiden was like a handsome man with a devilish look. She couldn’t get her eyes away from him. She was staring at Aiden’s lips.

“ B-b-babe go to Mara for m-m-me! “ said the girl to her boyfriend, Aiden as she tries not to cough up blood.

Mara was shocked. It was the first time to hear her classmate say that to him. Aiden didn’t want to leave his girlfriend alone.

“ S-stay away from me Aiden! “ said the girl to her boyfriend as she’s trying to hold onto her tears.

Aiden didn’t want to move and leave her. One of the strangers knew what’s going on. One of the strangers looked at the other two of their companions. They complied. The two strangers pulled Aiden away from the girl. The girl slowly got up. She could tell there was darkness within Mara. The darkness was the one controlling Mara’s actions. The girl looked at the strangers. They nodded their heads at each other. They knocked Aiden out. The girl sighs. She knew that she wouldn't have that much time left. But, she has to stay alive for a ‘ miracle ‘ to happen.

“ I am sorry Aiden. But, you cannot see this “ said the girl to him as she looked at him with sadness.

“ Mara, I am very sure you will be the only girl who would help Aiden along the way “ said the girl to her as she coughed up blood.

The girl gently rubs Aiden’s face up and down. She whispered ‘ I love You ‘ to Aiden. He starts to tear that appears in his eyes. Even though his eyes were closed. She kisses him on his lips as if it's her last life to live. She used the last remaining strength she had to tackle Mara on the floor. As Mara was on the floor, the girl knocked Mara out. She shouted at the strangers.

“ Do it now! “ said the girl to the strangers as she started to cough up blood once more.

“ But, my lady; what will happen to you if you—? “ said one of the strangers in his yellow mask to her.

The girl tries to hold onto Mara’s body. They complied as the girl shook her head to them. The strangers cast a mysterious spell that pulled the darkness out of Mara’s body. As they cast the spell, the darkness that left Mara’s body went into the girl’s body. As the spell continues, the soul of the girl and the tiny life forms that were in the body went out of it. The tiny life forms were absorbed into Mara’s body. The girl’s original body succumbs to the burning sensation of the darkness. The darkness was no more in Mara’s body. The girl’s body started to burn into flames from the darkness. 

The flames start to cleanse the darkness from the body. From there, there’s nothing left on the girl’s body so it turned into ashes. The soul of the girl is in limbo. Mara’s body pulled the soul of the girl into her body. Mara was still laying around on the ground. The strangers looked at each other. As precious time is spilled, the darkness that leaked out for a small amount showed up. The darkness starts to open its eyes. The eyes were red from the darkness. The color red is the color of human blood. Blood that would spill from the sky as red snow. When red snow falls, so does the habitat rain down from darkness. 

A darkness that would consume every heart of humans. When humans have been devoured by darkness, then the destruction of the human race will begin. Humans would fight against each other. Lies, betrayal, distrust, anger, etc. those are what kept the darkness strong. As strong as the darkness becomes, the world that humans live for will be destroyed by their own hands. It will be too late to save a world that is in utter destruction. Humans would watch news of watching someone die before your eyes. Then police officers that were once human would get the blame for it. 

Then a movement that humans created will be supported by one powerful government. That government would be known as the Cream Dot political party. It would be governed by one human male individual. That individual would use their own beliefs. This kind of government would want to have free stuff. For instance, free money; free health insurance, free education, etc. Nothing is free in the human world. We would always have to learn ourselves. That nothing we want is free. We always have to work for it. The girl believes that if we have a government that doesn’t take away our freedom, our right of speech, the right to give our own opinions, etc. 

We shouldn’t take things for granted. Because, if we live in a world that is controlled by people who wish for power. A world where authority, rules, law, etc. is the absolute power. If humans vote for this president in this political party then our freedom would be taken away. We would live in a world where the government would be the one who decides our fates. But, that would just make us mindless zombies. We would have the body of a human, but our mind would be controlled by such a government. A government who would support killing their own kind. Be it murder or killing a life before it’s even born would still consider as one. 

The girl tries her best to hide her true identity to the world. She doesn’t want to interfere with the human race. A place where the country is split in half. The first half of American people live for the Cream Dot party, while the other half of the American people live for the Pecan Rub party. As for the girl, she came from a neutral party. A party that doesn’t side with anyone. A party that doesn’t support murder, guns, abortions, etc. A party that doesn’t side with either Cream Dot or the republic party. Members of the neutral party don't vote for who is president. They don’t want to tip the power of balance. 

The girl was innocent. She knows a lot about politics, etc. Knowledge is power for her. She has gained enough knowledge. The strangers don't want to lose their knowledge. The girl’s body burned into ashes. The only thing left is the girl’s head. Her brain is the only one that contains everything there is to know. The strangers kept her head as a memoir. It was a reminder that humans are not to be trusted. The other stranger nodded their head. They erase the memories of them. The strangers touch Aiden’s head. They erase the memories of him meeting strangers. They also touch Mara’s head. 

They erase the memories of her meeting the strangers. The strangers cast a silent spell over Mara, Aiden and the doctor. So, they don’t hear what is going on. The strangers put Aiden and Mara’s body together in a sitting position. The doctors are put in a hospital bed. One of the strangers protects them. Afterwards, one of the strangers put the necklace that the girl once wore into Mara’s neck. It was supposed to be a protection charm. After that, the strangers disappeared in a thick smog; at the same time they cleansed the darkness from Mara's body once more. And then… 

Mara starts to open her eyes slowly. She starts to scan the room. She could distinctively smell an unfamiliar scent. She didn’t need to use her nose to sniff it. It had a slightly faint smell. She felt something was touching her. The touch was so warm. She slowly shifts her head to her left side. She saw a handsome man sleeping next to her. His head was on her shoulder. She couldn’t remember what happened. She couldn’t remember how she got here. It was a moment of forgetfulness. She tries to look into her memory. She closed her eyes.

“ Strange, how did I get here? “ said Mara as she was thinking inside of her own mind.

“ I remembered being in my house. I was in my room. And everything after that was a blur “ said Mara as she was still trying to dig through her mind.

No matter how many times Mara tries to recall. She starts to feel a sharp pain from her head. The pain was located in the center of her forehead. She traces her forehead with her fingers. It was a slight pain from a small headache. She didn’t want to wake up the handsome man. So, she just stayed still. She continues to scan the room as she moves her eyes around. To her right, she could see a bed. In the bed, she could see an unknown man laying down on it. She could tell he was wearing clothes. The clothes were blue. But, there was also white. The white clothes hang like it was a jacket of some sort. 

There was a name tag on his jacket. Mara whispers the name so she doesn’t wake up the man next to her.

“ Carson Knight “ said Mara as she mumbles the name of the person with the name tag.

Mara touches her own chin. She doesn’t remember having a handsome man. When she blinked her eyes, she couldn’t see the man laying down on the bed. When she faced the front, she could see the man squatting like he’s sitting down. He wasn’t touching the floor. He was clearly in line with her vision. He slowly extended his right hand. He places his right hand to touch her forehead. He uses his left hand to place it on his forehead.

“ That’s odd. You have a fever. Do you feel any pain anywhere, miss? “ said the man to Mara.

Mara was starting to feel shy and nervous. Her face turns red as if she’s blushing. The man tries not to laugh at her. He was just doing his job.

“ Are you alright, miss— ? “ said the man to her.

Mara snapped out of it. She returned the response politely.

“ Oh, yes sorry. My name is Mara Lamia Nimue. It’s what I could remember “ said the girl to the man.

“ Mara is it? That’s a beautiful name for a beautiful girl “ said the man to her as he could see that she was starting to fluster.

The man tries not to question her. He wants to make sure she’s doing okay. And he wants to see if she could remember anything before this.

“ Could you tell me about yourself Mara, that’s your name correct? “ said the man to the girl.

Mara shakes her head side to side.

“ Yes, my name is Mara. It’s the only name I could remember. I don’t remember anything else before this “ said the girl to the man.

She was telling the man that she doesn’t remember anything about herself. So, she stayed quiet. She didn’t say anything. She just nodded her head to him. She wanted to signal him telling him that she doesn't know anything. The man could read her. He could tell that she was confused as she was looking at him.

“ Oh, you’re asking what my name is? “ said the man to the girl.

Mara nodded at his question. The man politely responds back. He could tell her actions were similar to THAT girl.

“ My name is Carson Knight. I’m pretty sure you would know that by the name tag from this jacket “ said the man to the girl.

Mara nodded. She starts to relax when he tells her his name. Carson saw another person next to Mara.

“ Oh! What is this? “ said Carson to Mara as his eyes lingered on another person.

Carson gently placed his right hand to the man’s forehead. Then he did the same to him. His temperature was normal. But, the man’s temperature wasn’t normal. Carson starts paging the nurses from the room. A beautiful girl wearing a nurse outfit appeared. She was the only one available. She took a deep breath. She could see that there were people in the room. She gathered her thoughts.

“ You called, Dr. Knight? “ said the girl to him as her eyes still lingered into the girl and the man.

The girl slowly bent down, lowering herself down to Dr. Knight’s level. She whispered into his ear quietly.

“ Sir, isn’t that the woman that— “ said the girl to Dr. Knight.

Dr. Knight knew who the beautiful nurse was referring to. The nurse was well acquainted with the person whom they spoke about. They were aware of the situation. She already knew who Mara really is. She also knew that Mara had some darkness within her the night that she came between the couple. She also knew who the man was next to this girl. The nurse was in deep thought. He cut her off what she was about to say. He doesn’t want to cause any alarm to Mara. Even though this is mostly her fault to begin with. Even when she has no memories of what’s going on. 

Dr. Knight looked at the beautiful nurse. He looked at the nurse. He was signaling her to just let it go. And the nurse complied.

“ You must be Mara. Dr. Knight has told me that you only knew your name. Don’t be afraid of me or him. We are only here to help “ said the beautiful nurse to her.

Mara nodded her head. She clearly wasn’t aware. She could tell she’s inside a building. But, she doesn’t know which building.

“ I’m sorry. You just called Carson Knight a doctor. Is that right? “ said Mara to them.

The beautiful nurse and the doctor glance at each other. They had exactly the same thoughts. They both took a deep breath as if they were sighing at her words. They carefully try to not reveal anything yet.

“ Oh where is my matter?! I am the head nurse of this hospital. And Carson Knight right here is the head doctor of this hospital “ said the girl to Mara.

“ Hospital?! How did I get here? “ said Mara to them as she looked even more confused.

The nurse just shakes her head. This was difficult for her to explain to Mara. The nurse just smiled at her.

“ You look so pretty. You have the same smile as HER “ said Mara to them as she was shocked at what she said to them.

Dr. Knight and the nurse look at each other once more. Then they both looked at Mara.

“ Could you elaborate what you mean by HER? “ said the beautiful nurse to Mara.

“ I don’t quite understand myself either. But whenever you speak, you tend to smile “ said Mara to them.

“ I know I’ll sound crazy, but hear me out, “ Mara said to them.

“ Your voice reminds me of this one girl. I don’t think we have met. But, the voice always reminded me of this girl even though I haven’t seen her before, “ said Mara to them.

The beautiful nurse sighs. She places her right hand on her chest. She had this throbbing feeling. A feeling that has already torn her heart in half. It was a feeling that she lost her other half. Mara wasn’t crazy at all. Her voice sounds the same as her.

“ Do you know what this girl looks like if you could somehow remember ? “
