I open my eyes and glance at the clock on the bedside table and it’s 6:30 am. I wonder if Arlo has gone to work yet. I turn around, facing Kol and a smile immediately makes its way onto my face. He’s still sleeping. I gently peck him on the cheek, making sure not to wake him, and quietly make my way off the bed.
I was worried about him last night. Seeing me with Arlo reminded him of his family and even though he acted like he was fine because he didn’t want me to feel bad. I could feel it. He was in pain and my heart hurt for him.
The first night on the boat he couldn’t sleep and the next night when he did, I woke up to him calling out his brothers' names.
