Chapter Nineteen

1852 Words
Rose came out fully dressed, looking completely different from her usual self. She looked exactly like Angelina. She had perfectly styled her blonde wig, straightening it exactly how the girl in the picture did. She wore a very bright shade of red lipstick, wore a black headband just like the girl. It was kind of her signature look. She wore a black midi body con dress with a pair of black heels. She held the documents in one hand, and had one last look at herself. “Danger, here I come.” She said, already feeling the anxiety butterflies in her tummy dancing around. “Accent, checked.” She said as she feigned a thick British accent. She heard her doorbell ring, she turned the lights in her room off and opened the door. Storm stared at her, star struck, looking her up and down. “Hello Angela.” He said. Rose took a good look at him, he was dressed as a very mature guy, with beards that Storm always ensured he cleared every bit of it away from his face, and a fake nose piercing sitting on the left side of his nose with a couple of piercings on his ear. He had to depend on a lighter shade of brown contacts to complete the look. “Hello Fred.” “Here,” he said handing her membership cards. “Got some contacts to help us with these. We have to leave now to buy us some more time. Remember, we are on a time limit here.” He said. “Noted.” “Ready to begin the rain of madness?” He said holding his hand out to her. “Solidly behind you.” She replied slipping her hand into his. Looking like the power couple that they were, commanding authority and respect as they walked, with so much grace and elegance. They got into the limousine waiting outside for the both of them. Storm opens the door for her and she goes in while he follows behind her. “Nervous?” “Extremely. I’ve got weapons hidden underneath all of this clothing. Had to take my extra time to make sure they’re not detected.” “Here.” He threw a small substance to her wrapped up in a small wrapping paper. “That’s to do the job for us and make it easier. Be smart about it, put it in his drink, ensure he gulps it down. Invite him to the suite. Get your camera ready. I’ll cause a distraction with his guards, buying us enough time. If things go sideways, we use the window, it’s been arranged already. Okay?” “Yes sir.” With that, they stayed silent in the car. He noticed that Rose was nervously shaking her right leg, and constantly picking on her nails. Without thinking, Storm held her hand in his, “Fear will be your greatest enemy if you let it control you, and not you controlling it. Don’t focus on the what ifs, don’t focus on the negatives. Focus on how great the outcome will be when you succeed. Focus on the possibility of escaping alive, let that be your main goal. Your main drive. Your motivation.” He said to her. “Easy for you to say, you’re used to this lifestyle. I have just been thrown into it, just to prove that I’m worth more than pushing babies out of my system as a Luna.” She said taking her hand out of his and shifting away from him a bit. “I was thrown into this as well. Nobody really cared to know if I wanted this life, like I never really had a choice being born as an Alpha. Being born into a family of supernaturals, into this weird life that is consuming my every energy. Left alone, behind all of this façade, I want to be able to live my life and not worry about the consequences.” “That’s weird, coming from a Reed.” “You shouldn’t find it weird. Anyone else can, but you shouldn’t.” “Why?” “Despite being born into the hatred and never speaking to one another with friendliness, at all. You’re the only one that truly knew that I struggled. I always lived behind your shadows and when he took me away, abruptly, after your parents died, I faced hell.” “What did you face?” Rose asked looking at his face. She noticed the clenched jaw, the anger in his eyes. She looked down to his hands, she could see the green veins popping up on his skin and his nails digging into his skin. It was her time now, as she placed her very hot palms against his cold skin, immediately her palm touched the back of his hand, he felt all of his muscles relax. “You don’t have to talk about it, if it’s painful.” “I have never said anything about it to anyone.” “And you don’t have to. No one is pointing a gun to your head to say it as it is. You need time to process it and until you feel comfortable enough to let it out, you should continue to leave it inside of you. There’s no pressure.” “Thank you.” He said to her as he felt the tension inside his body begin to ease off. “What would you be doing, if all of this was never happening?” Rose asked him as the ride seemed to be taking forever. “I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t even know who I am. Sometimes, I’m this playful guy that truly doesn’t give a care about things,” he paused, gritting his teeth, “and then I’m this other guy blinded by the pain and hell he had to experience, fueled by hatred he knows nothing about, forced to have the desire to prove that he is worth more, a useful asset to his father. I would pay anything to have my father dead.” “Here I was thinking you had it all on a bed of roses, silver spoon between your lips.” “Power. Money. Influence. Riches. All at my fingertips,” he said raising his hand in demonstration. “Love, emotional support, family, relationships,” he clenched his fist, “never for once gave I experienced such.” He said quietly. “I don’t know what I would do, because I don’t even know who I am. I’m just going as my father tells me to.” “Why don’t you break away? Are you afraid of becoming a lone wolf? You can start a pack of your own.” “I’m waiting for something. See, I have a lot of truth that has been hidden underneath a heap of lies for years. If I find out that the past twenty eight years of my life has been a lie…” “You know what’s so weird?” “What?” “If I had ever been told, that I would be sitting in the same vehicle with my arch enemy, talking about the problems we’re facing, I would have ripped that person’s head off their neck.” “Should I be honest?” Storm said to her. “Go on,” “I knew that it would happen. There’s something about you and I, the hatred is based off our families,” “I never hated you, I was only really competitive. I began to hate you, every thing about you, when my father died. The hatred turned into bitterness, a bitterness that very well exists in this very moment, when my mother passed away from heartbreak.” “What would you do if none of these existed?” “Become a lawyer, or get into something highly competitive.” “Suits you.” The silence loomed again, but this time, after a long decade and more, the silence was comfortable. There were no threats to kill lingering on the inside of the other. It was the silence that existed between friends, the silence that came with peace, safety. At the same time, insecurity felt at its peak for Rose. How can you be having a conversation with him and not want to kill him? Rose you are losing your mind and getting comfortable with the enemy. This is the time he will use and rip you apart, aborting your mission. She reprimanded herself in her mind. “We’re almost there. Remember, keep your guard up, eyes focused and ears alert. Here,” he said handing her earbuds, “for easier communication. A car will be waiting for us behind.” “Good.” “If anything goes wrong, let me know. Okay?” He said to her. Rose nodded her head as she began to feel extremely sweaty. Storm held her hands and found how wet her palms were, he looked up at her, amused, unable to contain the smirk on his face, she pulled her hand out of his immediately. “What is making you smile?” “I’m amused that Rose can get scared.” “I’m doing something that I have never done before. Something that involves my life, I can die any moment,” “I have something just in case things go sideways.” “And what is that? Can it bring me back to life from the dead?” “We can always try new things. Enough with the chitchat, let’s get ready.” Storm said as the limousine pulled up in front of the restaurant. They got down from the car with Storm helping Rose out of the car. “Remember, you are Angela tonight, and I am Fred.” “And when things get rough?” “Then we are who we are.” His eyes were hooded, giving Rose chills, the hair on her skin standing. He rubbed her palm and she flinched at it, shifting away. “It’s okay. I’m alright. I don’t need your pity or help. I can handle things myself.” She said as she walked away from him but Storm pulled her back by her elbow, standing very close to her, his face inches away from her. She could feel his minty breath on her face, and all she did was watch as his lips moved. “We are meant to be together. Only time we part ways is when you’re with the target. We should not screw this up. No matter how powerful we are, Dennis has the upper hand. I can’t stand you, you can’t stand me. We need the tolerance to get through today. Am I understood?” His voice was low, husky, and very very deep, his pupils were now a shade of yellow and green, and then returned back to normal. “Are you ready?” She nodded her head slowly, clearly intimidated by Storm. “Let’s move then.” He said as he held her tiny hand in his large hand walking with her.
