Chapter One

1802 Words
“We’ve lost the contract.” Her brother bursted into her office in anger slamming the papers on her desk, fuming. “What do you mean we lost the contract? You told me everything was fine and that the customer loved your presentation.” “Apparently, a new company sold him a better offer and he ran with it.” “What company competes with us now? And since when?!” “It’s our rival.” “No.” “The Reeds.” “Those bloody bastards!” Rose said in anger squishing the contract in her palm and throwing it in the bin. “I always have to compete with that fool Storm, and now they show up like they never left. We’ll discuss it with Jack when we get home, focus on the new project at hand.” “Is that all you’re going to say?“ “Well Stefan, what would you have me say? That we’re screwed? That it’s all going down the drain? What’s the point. Go back to your office and just focus on something else. When we involve Jack, he’ll tell us what to do. Understand?” “Whatever.” ~~~~ “What is the problem?” her grandmother asked Jack. The moment he walked into the mansion throwing off everything in his way, yelling at the staffs she knew that it was bad news she was going to receive. He threw his brief case on the floor, all the money inside of it scattering everywhere, falling into the sofa couch in the small living room. She ordered that a glass of cold water be brought to him immediately. “He has returned. They have all returned.” “This is bad news.” “And we know what he’s here for. Everything I’ve worked hard to build ma, if we don’t fight back with all our strength, he will snatch it away from us.” “A battle against the packs.” “Exactly! Exactly!!” “He was not like this. He did a good job hiding himself for years. Not until the goddess of light revealed his true intentions to Julian and when he confronted him, he just changed.” “I hate the life that we’ve had to grow up in. Especially Rose. Rose is all about war and winning that she forgets to live. Stefan and I at least have the time of their lives. Rose should not find out about this, not even in the slightest form.” “Rose should not find out about what?” They heard her voice outside the door. “Hello Jack, hello grandmother,” “Rose dear, how are you?” “I’m okay. Work was hectic but news has reached me that our rival has returned. What’s your plan Jack?“ “There is no plan Rose. You should stay out of this, it is between us.” “Uh-huh, did Dominic Reed care in the slightest form when he and his devilish sons ambushed me? Or when they killed our father and caused our mother a serious heartache that she passed on with him?! This scar is my perfect reminder that I will finish them off for what they’ve done to me. I will take it out on their golden egg.” “Calm down Rose, when did you become like this? You don’t do anything asides worrying, working, fighting, both in your human form and werewolf form.” “You’re really asking me that question grandmother? I’ll give you a little back story of how my childhood was growing up.” Years ago… “Mom,” Rose called out to her, “Yes my princess,” “Can I go out with my friends? They’re hosting a tea party and I would love to attend. I’m ten now, I’m a big girl and I’ve trained in my werewolf form so I’ll be fit enough to go, so please can I go?” “No Rose,” “But Jack and the rest always go out and have fun with their friends,” “They’re training,” “Training? Mom they’re literally playing ball out the window,” “And you should concentrate on that maths quiz you have against that Storm Reed. You cannot let him win.” “I’ve always won him,” “This should not be any different. You are not by any means allowed to while away time. You have to work, and train. Friends will only bring you down, take a look at your father,” “But Jack,” “Jack and your brothers are boys that will grow into men. They can take care of themselves but you’re the only girl, we cannot take such a risk.” “You’re saying this like the Reeds would kill me on sight,” “Even at the school you are , your father and I have eyes, you are not privileged to have that normal life like others.” “Why on earth am I cursed this way?” “Don’t call your gift a curse,” “It’s a curse because I’m locked up like a prisoner and I don’t have the freedom, I’m not allowed to enjoy the things that girls my age are privileged to enjoy. Every single time it’s in preparation for ear. Either war against the vampires, or war against the goddess of light that just happened recently! Look at what uncle Harry had to suffer for being a human, vampire and werewolf and you’re calling this a gift?! How on earth is this even a gift mother?! Explain to me!” “I understand your frustration my child, but you have to get accustomed to it, it’s your life now. Your destiny is to ensure that the Reeds never get the opportunity to outrun you. Your competition, is against Storm Reed. And you have to win till the very end for the sake of this family. Do you understand?” With that her mother walked out of the room leaving Rose to brush her hair with tears streaming down her face. She hated everything about her life, it sucked. She watched her brothers have the time of their life in the field outside their big mansion. “The winner of the spelling bee competition, is Rose Blanc, Storm Reed is the first Runner-up!” She watched from the stage as both fathers glared at one another. She watched as Storm glared at her with so much rage in her eyes, she started crying running to her mother. “The winner of the racing competition is Rose Blanc, with Storm Reed coming second,” she managed to beat him every single competition, all of their lives until one day, he disappeared. They attended the same business school, and in their fourth and final year, she remembered walking into class to find his favourite spot vacant. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months and she was graduating with her first class degree with no sign of the Reeds. After everything she settled in perfectly in the corporate firm, handling all of her father’s businesses, taking over half of the companies owned by the Reeds. Her name flew round the entire world, all the kingdoms knew of the rising star of the Blanc family, Rose. Rose is strict, and firm in everything she does. She forgot how to smile without thinking if the other person is about to double cross her. The entirety of the war between her and the Reeds family is the simple fact that the priest had said that she is meant to betrothed to the first son and heir to the Reed family, Storm. “Check it again, you cannot be serious! You’re joking!” Her father screamed in anger but the Priest gave him a death glare that made him retreat back into his seat. “Have I ever lied about anything before?! Your hatred for one another has blinded you all, hence, you cannot see what the truth is! If she gets married to someone else, your empire is going to be flushed down the drain! The two families are meant to be great allies but your stupid hatred…” “Stupid hatred ?! I respect you but don’t speak so blindly. The goddess of light said that Dominic is a threat,” “Dominic is a threat, not Storm. From all I have seen here, Storm has no ill omen in him,” “He attacked my daughter!” “What else do you expect?! He is after all the son of your rival so what on earth do you expect?! Before you, your fathers were best friends, correct me if I’m wrong,” “But…” “Unfortunately, he birthed a demon, but how is that Storm’s fault?” “You have said what you have to say, but as her father, as the leader, I will not allow such abomination to take place! She will never get married to a son of the Reeds. Over my dead body!” “Julian!” Her mother cautioned him. “Then, so be it.” With that, the Priest carried away his belongings and walked out of their mansion. “Don’t listen to a word that he has said Rose. You are not to have anything romantic, emotional with the Reeds. Your mission is to kill and destroy them. Do I have myself understood?!” Poor Rose, she was only sixteen. What did she know about being betrothed, she only knew what her parents said to her, what she was allowed to see. Back to the present… “Do you understand me now grandmother? Mother and father are the reason I’m like this, so deal with it.” “You will still speak to us with respect,” Jack said standing up to his feet. “Noted. I’m flying to France tomorrow for a business meeting. Seems like I have to be on my toes with the rest of us as the enemy has returned. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with magical powers like you and my brothers, so my brain has to work ten times faster to catch up, the only unfortunate power I have is seeing the doom before it happens but no one ever takes me serious. I’ll be in my room if you need me.” With that she walked into her room falling into her bed and kicking her shoes off. “Storm is back I see? I wonder, what mischief does he have up his sleeves this time? The fool will want to out run me, but may the best werewolf win.” She said before drifting off fast into a deep sleep snoring away the stress of her day.
