My name is Ava and I was living a normal life, up until a few months ago when I graduated and got kicked out of my house immediately after, leaving me all alone. My parents decided they were done raising me, that they didn’t want me anymore and told me to pack my things and get out, so instead of arguing with them I did as they asked. I moved out and with the help of the money I saved over the years, which I kept in a secret bank account so they wouldn’t take my money, I now have a small house in the woods. It's not much, but it's mine. I work in a nightclub, which I love because there are never two nights the same. I was absolutely fine all by myself, but then I realised that there are more things out there than I first thought there were. My whole life changed when I met the son of the one and only Mafia Don Mercury Black. The only thing I knew about the supernatural was what I read in books and heard from fairytales, but then I heard weird noises one night and walked in on the most horrific thing I had ever seen. Humans turning into beasts. I turned and ran as fast as I could, but I was quickly found and brought back. I don’t know what to do or what to say. Are they going to kill me? What will they do to me? Not only am I being held captive, but they say there's a danger out there and it's after me, it wants to harm me because I know of them and what they are. Can I seriously believe any of this, even though I have witnessed it with my own eyes? Will I survive any of this? Join me in the laughter, joy, heartbreak and tears as the war that will end the rogues is coming after them to take over everything.

Chapter 1 Ava
Ava’s P.O.V   The sun wasn’t even out this morning on this dismal day, it was pouring outside and today was my graduation. The ceremony was meant to be held outside but with how the rain was coming down I hoped they had the sense to move it into the school hall. I looked at my phone and groaned when I saw the time. Great, I have three hours to get ready and get there, just great. I was glad to be graduating because I had worked hard, but for some reason I had a really weird feeling that something was going to happen today. I jumped out of bed and hurried to the bathroom, taking a quick shower and drying off, then coming back into the bedroom to get ready. I wore my pretty plus off the shoulder dress, even though it wouldn’t be seen under my gown I still wanted to look nice. I blow dried my hair and then let it lay over my shoulders, as there would be no use putting it up or my cap wouldn’t fit on my head. I did my make-up, but not too much that I looked like a clown, just a little mascara, eyeshadow and lip gloss, then I was done. I looked at the time and saw that I still had an hour and half left, so I ran downstairs to the living room, where my parents were already waiting for me.   “Hey honey, we thought we would have to get up there and wake you up. Are you ready?” My dad asked and I nodded.   “Yes, I’m ready, are you?” I replied, smiling. I looked over at my mother who had decided to wear her short brown hair curled up today, which made her look very elegant and she was wearing a sundress with flowers on it and looked really pretty. My dad had short black hair and he was wearing jeans and a button up shirt with a jacket over the top, making him look really nice.    “Yeah, we’re ready. Come on, let's go before you’re late.” My dad said, rushing us out of the door. When we got there it was so crowded with all the students and parents that it took me ages to sign in and let them know I was there. We all sat patiently until each of our names were called and then we walked up, shaking hands and receiving our certificates. I was so pleased to graduate and after everything was all over and done with, some of my friends went to have fun, but I couldn’t go with them as my parents said they needed to talk to me, so we headed home. Our home wasn’t massive like most of my friend’s homes, it was small, but it was comfy and I still loved it. It was the only home I had ever known, it was the place I grew up in.   “Why don’t you go and change, then hurry back to the living room.” My mom said as we pulled up outside our home. I nodded and rushed out of the car, going straight into the house and up to my room. I stripped out of my dress and put on a pair of jeans and a pull over shirt, but the whole time I was wondering what they needed to talk about. Maybe they just needed me to go to the store for them or something. I have my own truck, so it's not a problem for me to just go and get whatever they wanted then come right back, but if that's the case then why didn’t we just get it on the way back from graduation. Maybe it's something they forgot. I hurried back downstairs and into the living room, still wondering what they wanted, but when I got in there my mom and dad both had serious looks on their faces and that’s when I felt worried.   “Sit down.” My dad said, making me feel a little bit scared. I haven’t done anything wrong, so why am I in trouble? I sat down and looked at both of them, but something was telling me that I wasn’t going to like what they had to say. My father looked at me and then stood up, crossing the room to stand in front of me.   “Ava, your mother and I have been talking for some time now and well, you're nineteen now, you have graduated now. You say you don’t want to go to college right now and we are fine with that, but we think it's time for you to move out and we would like for you to move out of here in three days.” My father said, speaking first and he said the words that I knew have been coming for sometime. I should have caught on sooner as I knew exactly what they were going to say. The vents in this house carry sounds and sometimes I even have to wear my earphones because of them. I sat there a little shocked at first that he had actually said the words to me, but now I’m thinking thank god I had the sense to rent a small house before this all happened otherwise I would be left high and dry. It's a beautiful little house out in the woods where no one can bother me and I was going to tell them about it tomorrow, but since they said it first I’ll let them think it's their idea.  “You need to figure out where you're going to go, working in that night club you should have made friends that you can room with.” My mom said and I just shrugged, smiling at her.   “Yeah, of course. I could leave today. Besides, I think they would be surprised and happy to see me.” I replied, stunning my parents. I don’t think they expected me to take it this well, I think they probably thought I was going to argue and cause a scene, but what's the point in that? My parents don’t want me here and have talked about how much they don’t want me here for the last few weeks, so why should I want to stay somewhere I’m not wanted? My parents didn’t say much after that and only nodded as I went up to my room to pack my things up.    “Can I help?” My dad asked, knocking on my bedroom door.   “Sure, why not.” I replied and he and mom came into my room to help me pack. For three hours straight we packed up my room and loaded it all up in my truck, but not once did we say anything to each other. I would catch my mom and dad throwing cautious glances at me, but I didn’t bother to ask them about it and just carried on, but by the time we were finished it was getting late.    “I’ll sleep on the couch tonight and head out first thing in the morning.” I said and they both quickly agreed.   “Okay, well, er...goodnight.” They both said, leaving me alone in the living room. I grabbed a blanket out of the hallway closet and lay back on the sofa, pulling it over me and covering up. I didn’t sleep that much that night, knowing my parents wanted me out of the house, but I was more than a little upset that I would be leaving the only place I have ever called home in my entire life. This was the house I grew up in, learned to walk in, had sleepovers with my friends, this was where I had my first pet and also lost him, my dog Rover, who was buried under the orange tree in the back garden. By the time I finally got to sleep it felt like morning came all too soon and it was now time for me to get up and leave. I folded the blanket up, used the bathroom and brushed my teeth. My parents were still sleeping, so I took one last look around and then left, never looking or turning back. I got in my truck and drove out of my parent’s lives to the house I rented in the woods, but found it had been sold and I was now without a home. Maybe it was for the best, I thought and decided to leave the town we lived in, not wanting to be anywhere near my parents or where I could run into them, so I drove all the way to Gatlinburg Tennessee. It took me a little less than a day to get here, but when I did I managed to find a nice little house right outside of a beautiful forest. I always loved the woods because you were close to nature, plus I could go hiking all the time now. I unloaded my truck and carried it all into the house. I still needed to buy furniture and everything else, but in order to do that and live comfortably I needed to find another job as I had left mine behind when I left them behind. I might even get a job in another nightclub as I saw one when I was driving up here and it's not too far away for me to travel. I’ll go check in the morning, after I've settled into the house. I unpacked all my things and looked around at my new home, but I couldn’t help wondering if my parents would regret or even miss me in the slightest. Would they wonder where I am or if I’m safe? Would they care either way?
