“By accident, more or less. David and Janet were working on the possibility of a connection between this case and the dead drag queen murders, and Gregg was looking left out, so I gave him a chance to work with them.”
“Those two men reported to me for years, and I never saw them give each other the time of day, much less cooperation.”
“All it took was the right case.”
“Yeah, maybe, but I suspect there’s more to it than that.” He looked at his watch. “I’ve got to run. By the way, Sarah and I made an offer on a mountain cabin., I’ll tell you about it tomorrow.”
