The First Meeting

Michelle POV I guess I had started my day on a great note, having to see the new boss early, I thought as I stepped out of his office to retrieve his coffee, which he likes it creamy and sweet. As I made it back to the lounge, no other employee had arrived yet. Today might be a sad day for people who may be getting fired. The coffee maker had already brewed the coffee right on time. I made Mr. Kronos a nice, steaming coffee like he likes it and headed back up to his office. Had I knocked on the door this time? knowing that Mr. Kronos was inside. "Come in," he said on the other side of the door. I stepped inside and offered him his mug of coffee. He took one and blew some of it on the drunk. "Thank you, Mrs. Sanders," he stated. I had corrected him right away. "It's actually just Ms. Sanders. He just nodded in response. I left his office once again to head to my office, which is next to his. Once inside, I open my laptop, about to check any company email. As I began scrolling through my email, the phone rang. "Ms. Sanders, I need you to email all the stuff about an early meeting at 9am sharp," Mr. Kronos said. "Yes, sir, "I replied. I quickly emailed all the employees in the office about our emergency meeting at 9am in the auditorium. Once I sent the email, I called Mr. Kronos to let him know it was sent and that I was gonna prepare the rooms. However? Mr. Kronos said the employees showing up will be enough. They don't get to have treats and coffee. The employees not showing up early, knowing I would be here today, is an issue. I will make sure everyone is uncomfortable today. Also, I want you to start keeping track of who is constantly late to work," he stated. Mr. Kronos then ended the call abruptly. With some free time available, I took the opportunity to review Mr. Kronos's schedule for the upcoming week, checking for any planned meetings or appointments. As of now, his schedule appeared entirely open, which was to be expected given his recent appointment as the new CEO. By the time 9am arrived, I was already seated in the auditorium by the door, perfectly prepared and waiting patiently for everyone to start filing in. I held a notepad and pen in my hands, ready to jot down the names of employees who might arrive late to this early morning meeting. I had made a mental note that a delay of up to five minutes was acceptable, but any lateness beyond ten minutes would be problematic and could disrupt the agenda. As the minutes ticked by, people gradually began to enter the room, each finding a seat and settling in while I kept a close eye on the clock, tracking the punctuality of each attendee and preparing to record any tardiness. The auditorium was finally crowded with all the employees who work in this building. One by one, I remembered faces and some names of those who were extremely late. The names I didn't remember, I will just go to their department later and retrieve their names. It was more than a dozen employees extremely late as I wrote them all down. After 15 minutes or so, the auditorium door open on c e more to reveal Mr. Kronos. He didn't step in alone; he had a well-dressed man standing behind him. I'm sure that was his private security. As Mr. Kronos stepped further into the auditorium, his eyes glued to mine just for a moment. For some mysterious reason that I couldn’t quite explain, my body instinctively responded to his intense, penetrating gaze, even though the moment was fleeting. I inhaled deeply to steady my racing heart and calm my trembling body. As Mr. Kronos gracefully moved past the gathering of employees, I began to notice whispers spreading among them. One man muttered quietly, "This is the new boss." A woman, with a hint of admiration in her voice, added, "He is quite handsome," and several other women nearby nodded in agreement, their eyes subtly following his every step. Once Mr. Kronos reached the podium, the entire auditorium fell silent as every eye turned toward him, awaiting his words. After a brief pause to gather his thoughts, Mr. Kronos took a commanding step forward and addressed the crowd with a steady voice. "Good morning, everyone. My name is Mr. Kronos, and I am honored to assume the position of CEO here at Victory Cyber Tech," he began, gesturing slightly to the company logo behind him. "As of today, we are entering a new chapter. Change is inevitable, and I believe it’s necessary for growth and success. Over the coming weeks and months, each of you will undergo a thorough evaluation process. This will include reviewing your work history, attendance records, punctuality, and overall work ethic. Our goal is to understand your contributions and determine how you can best align with our vision for the future. This process is designed to be fair, transparent, and aimed at strengthening our team. I trust that each of you will approach this with professionalism and dedication," he concluded, glancing around the room with a firm but encouraging expression. With the crowd of employees whispering around that point, Mr. Kronos had to clear his throat to get everyone's attention once again. Today will be a long, sad day, and days to come. Today, the evaluation will begin with the Security Operations Center, followed by Incident Response, then Identity and Access Management. Next, it will cover Governance, Risk, and Compliance, and Penetration Testing. Finally, it will include Security Architecture / Engineering. These are the main jobs I will be looking into for the best people to stay. Other departments are just as important, like the IT asset custodian, lobby coordinator, and anyone who is an assistant. I suggest that everyone stay to their daily work tasks until they are called to my office. This meeting is adjourned," he concluded. I began to hear people complaining about the possibility that they might lose their jobs. The day of reckoning is about to begin, and all of the employees who have been lacking are gonna be cut. I just hope I can get a chance to get the position I've always wanted.
