The Way He Looks At Me

1271 Words
Michelle POV I woke up later than usual, but not late enough to be tardy for work. I really tired myself out yesterday, more than I thought I had. I will make sure to wear shorter heels today, especially with all the walking I will be doing. Looking at the clock, it was only 6:15am. However, I wouldn't have enough time to eat a proper breakfast. Usually by 6am, I would be already dressed and having my breakfast. I straighten my bed after getting up, then I brush my teeth, shower, and get dressed. I chose a long gray pencil skirt, which comes with suspenders, and paired it with a white blouse that falls off my shoulders. I put my hair in a slick ponytail, then looked at my reflection for my own approval. Afterwards, I slid on my two-inch black heels and grabbed a muffin to eat as I was headed out the door with my briefcase in hand. It didn't take me long to get a cab as I ordered donuts, croissants, bagels, scones, and different pastries with cream cheese and butter. I got to work at a reasonable time, 7:48am, and the food would be delivered at the receptionist desk as usual. When I arrived, I wondered if Mr. Kronos and Lucas had arrived already. Once inside the building, I saw the two receptionists, Lillian and Susan. They were never here this early before. I grabbed the food and said good morning to both of them, and they surprisingly gave me a smile that obviously didn't reach their eyes. I will keep a note of that just in case I need to report them later on down the line. I did as I would usually do when I walk into the office earlier than everyone. I dropped off my briefcase in my office and noticed Mr. Kronos hadn't arrived yet. Then I went down to the lounge to start the coffee maker, next I spread out the pastries across the long table in the lounge. Afterwards, I grab some croissants and scones to take with me. Kronos office. Since I didn't know what time Mr. Kronos was coming to the office, I didn't prepare his cup of coffee. I settled in my office, taking out my laptop to get back to work on finalizing the new rules and printing them out for each employee. Once I was nearly complete, there was a knock at my office door. It was Mr. Kronos, and we worked together for a while, going over more policies and my ideas. It felt so good to be finally heard. I was so happy that I hugged Mr. Kronos, and then I immediately regretted it, as it was unprofessional. Mr. Kronos was nice about it, and we went on working on the added new policies until 9am rolled around. Lucas arrived, and then all three of us headed to Mr. Kronos' office to get back to the evaluations for the rest of the Security Operations Center department. Today, we made extreme progress with evaluating 73 employees by the end of the day. By Friday, we should be finished evaluating that entire department. I stayed after 5pm to work on a budget for the cafeteria. I noticed Mr. Kronos and Lucas were still here. I managed to create a presentation about a budget and showcase the pros and cons of having a cafeteria. My body was starting to feel sore from sitting so long. I checked the time, and it was nearly 8pm. I got up to stretch my limbs and saw that Mr. Kronos was still here. I went down to the lounge to get a cup of hot trash and got a cup of coffee for Mr. Kronos as well. I didn't bother to knock on his office door; I walked right in. "Mr. Kronos, I've brought some coffee for you," I said. "What about me, beautiful?" Lucas said as he was sitting on the couch. "I'm sorry, Lucas, I didn't know you were still here," I informed him. "Thank you for the coffee, Ms. Sanders. Let me know when you're ready to leave so I can drive you home," he stated. "Mr. Kronos, you don't have to take me home again. I can use a cab," I said. "It's getting quite late, and I'd rather take you home to make sure you're safe," he informed me. Mr. Kronos's offering to take me home is very kind of him. "You know I can always take you home too, Michelle," Lucas said playfully. "Lucas, shut up before I cut your tongue out," Mr. Kronos growled at Lucas. I left Mr. Kronos and Lucas alone as they continued to go back and forth with each other. I went back to my office to gather my belongings to leave. When I went back to Mr. Kronos' office, he had Lucas in a headlock and immediately released him once he saw me. I looked at Lucas, and his mouth was bleeding. "Mr. Kronos, why did you hurt Lucas so badly. You should be ashamed of yourself. I took a piece of tissue out of my bag and held it on Lucas's mouth to stop the bleeding," I yelled. "Lucas will be just fine. His mouth will heal soon," Mr. Kronos growled. "Don't growl at me, Mr. Kronos; you were in the wrong," I stated. Mr. Kronos walked closer to me, leaving a little bit of distance between us. "I will watch my tone if I were you, Ms. Sanders," he commanded. "Excuse me, Mr. Kronos, I'm off the clock, which means you watch your tone with me. Just because you are the boss doesn't mean you get to boss people around after work hours. Now apologize to Lucas," I commanded. Mr. Kronos' face softened up, then he looked towards Lucas. "Lucas, I apologize for punching you in the mouth," he said sincerely. I didn't think Mr. Kronos would fold so easily to apologize. "Apology taken," Lucas said. "Now, Ms. Sanders, are you ready to leave? Mr. Kronos asked me. "Yes, Sir," I replied. On the drive to my apartment, Mr. Kronos apologized to me. I didn't mean for you to see me act in such an unprofessional way," he expressed to me. "It's quite all right, Mr. Kronos. You just need to control your anger," I informed him. "I never had anyone to check my anger or intense nature," he told me. "I think you need more of that," I said as Mr. Kronos pulled up to my apartment. Mr. Kronos then got out of the car to open the passenger door for me. "Good night, Mr. Kronos," I said after stepping out of the car. "Allow me to walk you to your apartment," he stated before I walked off. Mr. Kronos then walked me up to my apartment, and when we finally reached my apartment door, he looked at me intensely. "He is gonna kiss us," Kira said. It was quiet between us for a moment before I spoke up. "Mr. Kronos, I want to thank you for allowing me to show my skills," I expressed to him. "We are off the clock, so please call me Victor. I believe you have earned the right to show off your skill based on what I have learned about your work ethic, thus far," he informed me. "Thank you, Victor, for taking me home," I replied. "You're welcome, Michelle, and good night," he said, then walked away. Victor gazed at me one last time before stepping onto the elevator. What was that about? Was my boss gonna kiss me?
