Dom remained silent as Kiko drove them back to his place, swan-goose statue in the back of the truck. Dom had poked around while Sam and Kiko had hefted the metal sculpture into the truck, but found nothing. Defeated, he now rode silently with his basket on his lap, Kiko feeling slightly sorry for him. “You knew it wasn’t him,” said Dom at last. Kiko shrugged. “Unless he’s just really good at hiding everything. We didn’t see his wife, either. Maybe she’s dead and buried out back…” “Dom, quit it,” said Kiko.
