They sat on a nearby bench, the tension palpable in the evening air. The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting a golden glow over the park, but neither Cennet nor Hiroya could appreciate its beauty. “Hiroya, I can sense something has changed between us,” Cennet began, her voice soft yet firm. “I miss our conversations, our laughter. I don’t understand why you’ve been distant.” Hiroya looked down, guilt flooding him. His fingers fidgeted with the hem of his shirt as he avoided her gaze. “I didn’t want to hurt you,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper. “With everything happening in my life, I thought it would be easier if I stepped back.” Cennet’s heart ached at his words. “But you’re not just a star to me; you’re my friend. I care about you, Hiroya.” She took a deep breath, fighting back the emotions threatening to spill over. “It feels like I’m losing you, and I don’t know why.” “I care about you too,” he confessed, his voice trembling as he finally met her gaze. “But I’m scared. Scared of what people will think, and scared of losing you if things get complicated.” “Complicated?” Cennet echoed, her brows knitting together. “Hiroya, friendship is inherently complicated. But it’s also the most beautiful thing we can have. We’ve been through so much together. Can’t we face this, whatever it is, together?” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “It’s not that simple. My life is changing so fast. The spotlight is intense, and I don’t want to drag you into it. You deserve to shine in your own right, not as someone tethered to me.” Cennet’s expression softened, her heart aching for him. “But I don’t want to shine alone. I want to share those moments with you. It’s not just about the glitz and glamour; it’s about the journey and the people we care about. I thought we were on this journey together.” He looked at her, the conflict evident in his eyes. “What if I become someone you don’t recognize? What if this fame changes me? I don’t want to lose the person I am—or the person you see in me.” Cennet leaned in closer, her voice steady. “Hiroya, I see you for who you are, not who the world wants you to be. You are kind, talented, and passionate. Those qualities don’t vanish with fame; they only shine brighter. But you have to let them shine. You have to trust me, and trust yourself.” He hesitated, the weight of her words sinking in. “It’s just hard. Everyone expects me to be perfect, and I’m scared of disappointing them. What if I can’t handle it?” “You don’t have to handle it alone,” Cennet insisted, her eyes locking onto his. “I’m here, and I’ll always be here. You can lean on me. It’s okay to be vulnerable. We all have fears and doubts.” “But what if it gets too messy?” he asked, his voice trembling with uncertainty. “What if we get hurt?” Life is messy, Hiroya,” she replied, her tone earnest. “But running away only creates more distance. We need to face this together. Besides, isn’t it worth the risk? Isn’t our friendship worth fighting for?” Tears welled in Hiroya’s eyes as he grappled with his emotions. “I don’t want to hurt you. That’s my biggest fear.” Cennet reached out, gently placing her hand over his. “You won’t hurt me by being honest. I’d rather know the truth, however painful it may be. It’s the silence that hurts the most.” He squeezed her hand, drawing strength from her warmth. “You’re right. I’ve been shutting you out, thinking I was protecting you. But I see now that I was only pushing you away.” “I’m not going anywhere,” Cennet assured him, her voice steady. “We can navigate this together. Just be open with me. Share your fears, your hopes—everything.” Hiroya took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the world begin to lift. “I guess I’ve always been afraid of being a burden. The expectations, the pressure—it’s suffocating sometimes. I don’t want to drag you down.” “You could never be a burden to me,” she said, her eyes shining with sincerity. “You are my friend, and friends support each other. You can’t carry this alone. It’s not fair to you or to us.” He nodded slowly, feeling the walls around his heart begin to crumble. “I’ve been so focused on the negative, I forgot how powerful it is to share the load. I’m sorry for shutting you out.” Cennet smiled softly, warmth flooding her chest. “Thank you for opening up to me. That means more than you know. We’re in this together, Hiroya. Whatever happens, we’ll face it side by side.” He exhaled shakily, relief washing over him. “You’re right. I’ve let fear dictate my actions for too long. I don’t want to live like that anymore.” “Then let’s start fresh,” Cennet proposed, her tone playful. “No more holding back. We can face whatever comes our way with honesty and laughter, like we always used to.” Hiroya chuckled, the sound brightening the atmosphere. “I like that. Laughter is what brought us together in the first place.” “Exactly! And we’ll make new memories, no matter how crazy things get.” As they shared a warm smile, the tension between them began to dissipate, replaced by a renewed sense of connection. “Can I ask you something?” Hiroya ventured, his expression turning serious again. “Anything,” Cennet encouraged, her heart racing. “What do you really see in me? Why do you care so much?” Cennet took a moment, searching for the right words. “Because you’re you, Hiroya. You’ve got a light in you that’s contagious. You care deeply about the world, about the people around you. That’s what drew me to you. And when you’re honest and vulnerable, it makes you even more incredible.” He absorbed her words, feeling the warmth of her admiration envelop him. “You make it sound so easy.” “It’s not always easy,” she admitted. “But it’s worth it. I don’t want to lose the connection we have, and I want to help you see how wonderful you truly are.” Hiroya smiled, gratitude evident in his eyes. “Thank you, Cennet. You have no idea how much this means to me.” “I do, actually,” she replied with a wink. “I just want you to realize it for yourself.” He chuckled, the tension finally breaking. “Okay, okay, I’ll work on that.” Cennet squeezed his hand again, feeling lighter. “And I’ll be here every step of the way. Remember, you’re never alone in this.” “Promise?” he asked, his voice vulnerable. “Promise,” she affirmed, her heart swelling with hope. As they sat together, the golden light of dusk surrounding them, they realized that they were not only friends but partners in this journey of life. With honesty and laughter, they would face whatever came next—together.
