CRYSTAL
"I should be the one saying that. Let's stop being friends. You really...disgust me."
"That's your problem." Riley shrugged, rolling her eyes.
"What's going on here?" Turning around, my eyes landed on Javier, who was just coming downstairs.
"Baby!" Riley shouted and ran over to him, kissing him. He wrapped his hands around her waist, reciprocating the kiss, making me scoff. What do they think they are doing?
Seconds passed before they pulled out of the kiss. "I didn't know you were coming."
"Oh, I..."
"Tell her to leave." I cut in, my gaze solely on Javier.
"Why should I do that?" He asked with a frown.
"Why would you bring your slut here?" I asked back.
"Are you calling me a slut?!" Riley shouted.
"Aren't you one?" My brows furrowed angrily.
"What!" Her eyes widened.
"Take that back. I won't take that from you." Javier said in a serious tone.
"I'm not taking sh*t back, so get her out of this house." I turned to go back to the dining room but his statement made me stop. "She is going nowhere."
"Really? How about I call your grandfather?" Turning back to them, I raised my brows.
"What?" He scoffed.
"Yes. How about I calling your grandfather and telling him what's going on? I'm sure you wouldn't like it." I smirked.
"You're pathetic." Riley glared at me, but I only chuckled, and went back to the dining.
They talked for a few moments, with Riley resisting, before she finally left, then I heard footsteps approaching.
"What stunt did you just pull?" His voice made me look up. He was standing in front of me with a deep frown on his face.
"I don't understand," I said, staring innocently at his face.
"Don't you think you are getting ahead of yourself? This marriage is only on paper and nothing else. Don't expect anything from me. The next time you disrespect Riley, it won't be nice." He stated and turned to go, but he stopped, turning back. "And...threatening me with my grandfather, you wouldn't want to try it again. It ain't going to work." With that he said, he walked out of the dining.
A loud sigh left my lips as I dropped the spoon loudly on the plate. I suddenly lost my appetite.
"Aren't you eating anymore?" Mia asked when I stood up.
"Yes, I will be upstairs," I muttered, and left the dining room. As I climbed up, Javier was coming down, but I only ignored him and went to my room.
I sighed lowly and went to the balcony of the room. My eyes landed on Javier, who got into his car and, in the next second, he drove out of the island. That jerk, shouldn't he at least pretend to be on honeymoon like I'm doing right now?
I rolled my eyes and took my gaze at the sea which was some distance away. The view from up here was really beautiful.
The blaring of my phone made me pull my gaze away from the sea to the bed, where it sat gently. Going over to bed, I picked up the phone to see my mum calling. Why is she calling?
I swiped the green button and placed the phone on my ear. "Mum."
"My sweetheart. How are you doing?" Her cheerful voice sounded, and I smiled lightly. "I'm good."
"Right. I know I'm disturbing your honeymoon, but I just called to check up on you, Javier is treating you well, right?" I almost scoffed at her question, but I held myself, saying instead, "I guess."
"Is that a yes or a no?" she asked, but I kept quiet.
"Yes." I mumbled after some seconds and I heard her sigh out in relief. "That's great. I would leave you to enjoy your honeymoon. Bye."
She hung up, and I sighed, honeymoon my foot. I wish I could leave this place and go back to my normal life, but this island is a bit far from the city, it would take hours of driving to get there.
"Should I just leave?" I mumbled, chuckling after. My parents wouldn't like it if they heard of it. I'm doing all this for them anyway, like I've always done; living my life for them ever since he died.
I wish I could stop doing so. I really want to live my life the way I want to, but I don't think it's possible my parents always tell me what to do. A tear slipped out of my eyes, but I quickly wiped it off and dropped my phone on the bedstand before laying on the bed.
Just as I thought about sleeping for a bit, my phone beeped, and I reached for it to see a message from my boyfriend. I sighed, I had completely forgotten about him. I didn't even tell him about my marriage because it was too sudden, not like we're gonna work out, anyway.
COME OUT, I'M OUTSIDE
The message read, which made my brows furrow. What's the meaning of this? He is outside, he must mean my parents’ house.
I'M WAITING
Another message came from him. He is not outside this island, right? Sure, it can't be.
I wanted to leave it at that, but I couldn't; I needed to be sure, so I left my bed and walked out of the room.
Stepping off the island, my eyes widened when I saw him standing there. He was truly here.
"Mar–tin." I stuttered in shock. He walked towards me and showed me his phone. A picture of I and Javier coming out of the church was displayed on his screen.
"What's this about?" He asked, and I sighed. He must have found out.
"I'm sorry." I apologized, and he scoffed.
"You are sorry? Explain what's going on because I don't understand. What's this picture about and why are you here?!" He yelled.
"I got married!" I yelled back. "I got married, okay? We are over now." My voice became low.
"You are breaking up with me? You got married without telling me, and now you are breaking up with me?" The broken look on his face almost made me cry, but I stopped myself. I need to get this over with once and for all.
"I'm sorry. We can't keep dating because I'm married now and about me not telling you about it, you were on a business trip and I didn't want to disrupt it." I said, and he scoffed. "I wish. You've been cheating on me all along."
"What? Cheating on you?"
"Yes. I didn't want to believe it at first, but now, you are married. Isn't it true?" he asked.
"Is that what you think of me? I'm only in this marriage because I have to stop my parents’ company from shutting down, but you think I'm cheating on you? Seriously! Who told you this?" I asked with a frown.
"Riley." My shoulders dropped when he mentioned her name. Riley told him this? What did I ever do to her? Why would she slander me like that? I thought we were friends and to think that he believed Riley over me?
Shaking my head in disbelief, I took a step back.
"Aren't you going to say anything?" He asked.
"You believed her anyway. Maybe we should leave it at that." I muttered and turned away from him, going back in.
The tears I had been trying to hold came rushing down. I slowly sat on a couch when I got into the mansion, facepalming myself as I cried more.
Who knew the person I kept as my best friend would turn out to be against me? All this feels like a dream, getting married to someone I don't even know and breaking up with my boyfriend who I love so much.
I just hope I will cope with this marriage, but it seems impossible, not when the man I married is a jerk.
