JAVIER
The sound of heels clicking made me pull out of the kiss.
"Why?" Riley asked, trying to kiss me back, but I stopped her and moved away from her. Going to the door, I looked out, and my eyes widened when I saw Crystal walking away.
"What's wrong?" Riley came to me and also looked out, but Crystal had already gone.
"Who did you see?" she asked, and I looked at her, "Crystal."
"What! Are you sure!" She shouted.
Nodding my head, I watched as she slowly shrugged, wrapping her hands around my neck.
"Maybe it's for the best," she muttered.
"Aren't you worried?" I asked, surprised by her reaction.
"Why should I be?" she asked back.
"She is your best friend."
"Oh, please." She rolled her eyes and tried kissing me, but I moved back.
"I need to go. She must not say anything about this."
"But..." I walked out of the restroom before she could finish talking, hurrying back to the church.
I couldn't afford Crystal to say anything because I couldn't lose my inheritance to my bastard cousin Diego. That's the main reason I'm getting married.
Getting to the church, my eyes landed on Crystal, who was talking to her parents and my grandfather. My eyes widened, and I quickly rushed over to them.
"You're here." Her mum, Mrs Bennett, smiled.
"Yeah." Letting out a fake smile, I glanced at Crystal, who wasn't even looking at me. Taking my gaze to her parents and my grandfather, I studied their expressions, but they all had smiles on their faces. That means she didn't say anything to them...right?
"You guys should head to the reception now." My grandfather spoke up.
"Yes yes. You both should go on. We will leave after you." Her mother nodded in agreement.
I turned to Crystal, but she didn't spare me a glance before walking out of the church. Faking a smile at the trio, I walked out of the church as well. I entered the waiting car and found her already seated, staring out of the window.
"Drive." I said to the driver, and he immediately started the car, driving out of the church.
The car was silent, no one said a word. Crystal kept looking out of the window while I kept staring at her. Isn't she supposed to attack me now that we are alone? But she didn't. I had the urge to ask her if she saw Ariana and me in the restroom, but I didn't. What if she actually didn't see us and I end up blowing my cover? Not like I care though, but today, I have to make sure everything goes well, so I can get my inheritance completely from my grandfather.
About two hours later, I was standing in a part of the buzzing hall. I focused my eyes on Crystal, who was chatting with some people. That's what I've been doing since we got here. I have to make sure she is truly not aware of Riley and I for today because I still have doubts.
"Wait for tonight, will you?" I heard someone say beside me, but I didn't look away from Crystal because I knew it was my best friend, Bryan.
"Wow. Are you so eager to have her?" He chuckled, making me scoff.
"I have no interest in her, so that's impossible."
"Really?" He said, and I nodded, glancing at him.
"You know this wedding sh*t is all arranged. I don't like her for a bit. I just have to be sure of something," I muttered.
"Sure of what?" He asked.
“I have a suspicion that she saw Riley and me kissing, but I'm not entirely certain. Can't afford her saying a thing,” I replied.
"What! How could you kiss another lady on your wedding day?" He raised his voice, and I glared at him.
"Sorry bro." He raised his hands in surrender, looking around to see if anyone heard us and, thankfully, no one did.
"But...don't you think you should end things with Riley? You are married now."
"A marriage I'm not interested in. You shouldn't forget that." Tucking one hand inside my pocket, I collected a glass of wine from a passing server and sipped it.
"Good." Nodding my head, I took my gaze back to Crystal, but she was not there anymore. "Where is she?"
"Someone came to take her." Bryan muttered, and I turned to him. "Who?"
"No idea." He shrugged, and I nodded, taking my eyes to the crowd to see if I would catch a glimpse of her, but I didn't. Where did she go to?
"Congratulations on your wedding," someone said behind us, and we turned to see Diego.
"Oh, it's your cousin," Bryan chuckled.
"Congratulations again," Diego repeated, and I nodded. "You can leave if that's all you have to say."
"Don't be so harsh, Cous. I just want to wish you happiness in your marriage." He smiled, the smile that always annoyed me so much. I felt like punching his face, but I held myself back, I wouldn't want to cause a scene.
The beeping of my phone made me pull my gaze away from him. I reached for it in my pocket and checked to see a message from Riley.
COME TO THE DRESSING ROOM
I smiled and inserted the phone back in my pocket.
"Help me with this." Dropping my wine glass into Bryan's hand, I took one last glance at Diego before walking away.
"Are you kidding me?" I heard Bryan say, but I didn't look back.
It took a while before I found the dressing room and when I went in, I met Riley there. Her back was facing me. She turned, and a smile appeared on her face when she saw me. She walked towards me.
"I missed you." She whispered coquettishly, wrapping her arms around my neck.
"You did?" Smiling, I asked and she nodded. "Why don't we do a quickie?"
"I would love that." My smile widened as I wrapped my hands around her waist, smashing my lips on hers.
"Oh," she moaned out. I grabbed her a*s, squeezing it hard, and her moans increased.
I took my hands to the hem of her short gown and was about to pull it up when the door opened and my eyes widened. Sh*t! I forgot to lock the door.
Pulling out of the kiss, I looked at the door to see Crystal standing by the door with a frown on her face.
"Can you both stop being shameless?" She snarled.
I took my hands away from Riley's waist. She wasn't even looking bothered.
"I..." I wanted to say something, but Riley beat me to it, "We are doing nothing wrong because he is my boyfriend."
"Your boyfriend? You are really impossible. You are my best friend, Riley, but you are here, kissing the man I got married to on my wedding day." Crystal said.
My hands went into my pockets as I stared at the two of them. Seems this is not going to end soon.
"Why are you sounding hurt? Not like you are interested in this marriage." Riley rolled her eyes.
"Right. I have no interest in this marriage, but shouldn't you at least respect me, your best friend?" Crystal said in a low voice. She sounded hurt, but I was glad she had no interest in this marriage. There won't be much to deal with.
"Respect? I met him before you did, okay? He would not be marrying you if your parents’ company didn't go bankrupt."
"Riley!" Crystal yelled.
"What? Are you expecting an apology from me because you won't get it? I'm not sorry baby. You should be the one apologizing for getting married to my boyfriend." Riley eyed her.
"Sure." Crystal nodded twice, "He was your boyfriend, but I'm his wife now, so stay away." She added, and before I knew what was happening, she kissed me.
