Chapter 4In the shadows, dressed in black from head to toe, a large, towering man watched through a pair of binoculars from the garden of a neighboring property. The only outside lights behind the ten-foot-high steel gate and the two-story adobe home it protected came from the pool. They cast a calm green projection along the side of the home. Tucked behind the sprawling trunk of a mesquite tree, he slipped his eyes down to his watch, tapping its side to light up its hands. 3:41 a.m. He’s running late.
