Chapter 10“Ow!” Dusty shouted when he took an elbow to his head from a man trying to signal someone’s attention. Dusty fumbled to straighten his hat, in turn elbowing Lumbergh in his head. “Dammit,” Lumbergh growled. “Just . . . keep walking. Everybody keep walking,” he shouted as if he were taking a lead on clearing a crime scene. A long-haired woman with heavy makeup and a thin face shouted something over people’s heads, her voice echoing across the boisterous auditorium. Some people sobbed. Others exchanged confused glares as they were led out, by the hundreds, through the theater’s hastily opened doors.
