Chapter 1: The First Day
The campus was buzzing with new faces, excited voices, and the scent of fresh notebooks and coffee.
Lena adjusted the strap of her worn-out backpack and smiled to herself. It was her first day at university — and though she came from a tiny town with barely enough money for books, she was determined to make this chapter of her life unforgettable.
“Room A302…” she whispered, scanning the hallway.
Suddenly, a black Audi pulled up near the entrance, drawing everyone’s attention. Out stepped a tall guy in a white shirt, designer shoes, and a confidence that screamed I own this place. Girls started whispering.
“That’s Adrian Tran,” someone said. “His family owns half the city!”
Lena looked over briefly and shrugged. Rich kids were never her problem.
In her first business class, Lena was surprised when the professor said:
“You’ll be divided into groups of ten for the semester. Group 3, you’re sitting over there.”
To her surprise, she saw Adrian again — and to her bigger surprise, he was in her group.
“Hey,” said a girl beside her. “I’m Mia.”
“My best friend,” Lena said, grinning.
Adrian’s gaze lingered on Mia a little longer than necessary.
“I’m Adrian.”
And just like that, the group of ten began — a mix of laughter, awkward small talk, and quiet glances.
Over the next few weeks, Adrian kept finding ways to be around Mia — offering to carry her books, buying coffee, even helping with assignments.
But Mia? She never looked impressed.
“He’s… too much,” Mia told Lena one evening.
“But he’s kind,” Lena said. “And honestly? He looks at you like you’re the only one in the world.”
Mia sighed. “He’s not my type.”
Adrian overheard part of the conversation one day — and that night, he didn’t show up for group study. Lena found him sitting alone in the library, staring at nothing.
“You okay?” she asked gently.
He forced a smile. “She doesn’t even see me.”
Lena sat beside him. “Then maybe… you’re looking at the wrong girl.”
