Chapter 7
Home at last! It feels so good to be finally home. As we descended from the vehicle we were met with the smiles on our parents faces . Mum was wearing a V- neck shirt with a maxi skirt and a blue belt, looking as young as ever while dad who was standing right next to her was wearing a black long sleeved shirt with a blue tie and a jeans trousers . As we alighted Matilda ran towards them and embraced mum, she missed them so much and I knew this because she wouldn't stop telling me all through the ride. I took down both our luggages from the car's trunk and the driver immediately sped off. After a few minutes of walking we had reached a familiar building and reclining against the building was a familiar figure, tall with short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes , wearing a black hoodie with some baggy pants and of course his extra pair of eyes that somehow seem to fit anything he puts on. Miran is our childhood friend , nerdy and also ridiculously good looking,. We've known Miran since we were little and even though he was closer to Matilda growing up, he is like a brother to me , an annoying and very intelligent older brother. He was always trying to compete with me in everything which was very annoying but I have to admit , he brought out the best in me.
He collected the luggages from my hands , acting like a perfect gentleman and followed my parents into the house, I can't believe they were falling for his acts . Immediately I entered into the house, I collected my luggage from Miran and headed to my room to unpack.
My room was the smallest room in the house but I had asked for it because it was nearest to the indoor study , this way I can easily access it . I also picked the room because it was the airiest due to it's small size . While examining my room after a long while away , I heard a knock on the door. I rushed to open it just to see Miran leaning against the wall , " little pumpkin, why in such a bad mood today?" Miran asked obviously teasing . If a stranger had walked in and heard him called me little pumpkin, they would have thought he was calling a pet name but he gave me that nickname after an incident in our school's Halloween party while in middle school. That day I had planned to dress as a ghost while my sister Matilda planned to dress as a vampire but after our mother went to the costume store she said that all the ghost costumes were sold out and that she saw a cute pumpkin costume and decided to get it for me instead. I was thrilled when she said that and went to bed only to wake up in the morning to behold the nightmare of a costume my mum described as cute . It wasn't bad but it was too childish and way too small. Since there was no replacement in time I had to wear the costume like that for the day. It was a very embarrassing day of my life and Miran made it his life mission to always remind of that event . I had long gotten used to him calling me that so it doesn't sting that much as before , it's just like a useless moniker now. Miran let himself in and roughed my hair with a grin " Is anything the matter" he asked again and then I sat on my bed and answered. " Nothing really, I'm just overwhelmed lately" , then he sat by me and hit me slightly in the elbow with his fists, " Don't worry you'll be fine and if you don't make it I'm taking your trophies" Miran Said before I hit him on the head with a pillow. "You won't get the chance. I'm definitely keeping my trophies" I replied. " Then prove it and keep fighting" Miran Said threw a pillow at me before walking off. He might be very annoying but I really needed to tell someone that.
After about thirty minutes of unpacking, I went downstairs to meet Miran and Matilda playing chess and by the looks of it , Miran was winning. I went to the kitchen for a glass of water and when I returned I saw that Miran had claimed victory. I sat on a chair close to Matilda and asked Miran for a second round. I had to avenge my sister.
