Chapter 2

It's been a few days since the incident in the cafeteria and it turns out that Arabella was in line because her minions were busy trying to sabotage the onyx division. I know that because Draven from the Onyx division told me that during lunch time the onyx flag had been stolen and all their belongings scattered, luckily they found their flag which was on the border but it took days for them to arrange and even rebuild some of their things. I know Arabella had to have a hand in this and I know it's because of the beast feud that's about to happen. Every Ten years a new ruler of the five clans arise , in our school we call them divisions but In the outside world they are called clans. They call it an election, a fair appointment or a peaceful enthronement but in reality it is a clash of beasts , representatives of each clan fight for leadership and power . It is a very fierce battle and many don't live to tell the tale . Three decades ago Lord Leon ruled , he was unjust and full of greed , always longing for more power , then Lord Sebastian of the quartz clan ruled , he was cunning and deceitful like a snake , I mean he did have a snake as his beast so that's fair . No one from the sapphire clan has ever led ,, mostly because we are very peaceful people and we despise war . All these rulers only want to rule for power and fame but they forget the people they are meant to serve , the people they represent. It has been about eight years and two months since Lord Kingston has been in power . He's pretty good compared to the other rulers , at least he doesn't make us serve him or become slaves bur people on the rural ends of town are still suffering. Everybody is looking forward to who will be the next chosen ruler and the battle of the beasts is almost near , that's probably the reason why Arabella is doing all these because she knows that since her father, Lord Kingston is the last elder left in the town since other elders are either too weak or too afraid to fight then the new ruler will be from the younger generations, this means that students from each division of the school will participate in the clash . How funny it sounds that adults are comfortable letting children rule and everybody is fine with it. I have always known a time will come where the youths will have to join in this madness of an election but I didn't know it will be this close and that's even the least of my worries . Since I'm the eldest daughter of the Sapphire clan I have a choice to participate, at first I was shocked that my clan even agreed to participate after a very long time because we're very peaceful people but I eventually accepted, I wasn't going to back down like my ancestors . I might finally be the one to show the people the ruler they deserve and I'm going to do that without using any illegal means. I've kept my activities low-key lately and I've not told anyone yet that I'm participating but I guess it will be a nice surprise. Telling anyone now will attract too much unnecessary attention which I really don't need right now but of course i eventually have to tell Matilda, I never can hide anything from her . Classes have been minimised lately to give students time to practice and train for the " election" so school day ends by lunch time now and after that students return to their dorms , a lot has also been happening lately too. A lot of sabotages , fights , arguments and unnecessary drama , for a while now I've neither seen Arabella nor Kane since they've been busy cooking up plans to take out their competition. The list of students who want to participate in the clash was pasted on the notice board for easy access but I've not dared to write my name yet , not this early,, but soon. In the meantime I've also been training and boosting my abilities. So far , I can walk home blindfolded and I can remember directions like the back of my hand , I've also been trying to discover other abilities of the dove apart from navigation but that's still in testing phase. The other day I climbed onto my window and tried to fly off but I fell off instead and landed too floors down , the grass was a soft landing and luckily I didn't have any bruises but I definitely won't try that again, especially not from my dorm room window. It was also pretty lucky that someone hadn't seen me or they would think I had gone mad or completely insane , that wouldn't be the weirdest seen though since a lot has been happening lately. Recently. Everyday has been more intense than the last as many students are fighting for fame and power. I had a feeling that this clash of the beasts might be one for the records and I've been looking forward to it.

Anyway, Haven and Athena , my best friends have also been busy . They are on this wild mission to prove that Lord Kingston might have cheated his way to the throne. According to them , they said that the clash of the beasts was a battle meant to be mainly a test of abilities but lord Kingston might have used unjust means . They still don't have enough evidence to prove it but if they are right in anyway, it can cause the gold clan to be banned from participating for like fifty years . They are pretty discrete about their research because if anyone finds out they will be in big trouble and I'm the only one they trusted enough to tell . I've not told them that I was going to be participating because I don't know how to tell them but I will, eventually, for the mean time I'll just lay low
