Chapter 76

Henry looked pleased as he said this, without any guilt about digging up his brother's grave. The members of the Shaw family exchanged glances, surprised at how much the Steele family hated Jack. "In that case, let's proceed!" Zachary said. The group began to discuss the details of their plan and finally devised a complete strategy. In the evening, Jack slowly opened his eyes in the dungeon. After a day and night, the outside world should be in chaos. Now was the time when those people were most complacent and relaxed. The schemers behind the scenes should also reveal their flaws at this time. It was time for him to go out and settle accounts with these people! Just as he stood up, a loud noise came from outside the door. Victor walked in with Homas. "How dare you assault the police instead of confessing your guilt?" Victor glared at Jack and scolded him. Jack glanced at Homas and said, "It seems you didn't listen to me." "Listen to what you said?" Victor sneered. "Are you going to ask the governor of South State to come back in person? Who do you think you are to deserve a visit from the governor?" Hearing this, Jack fell silent. Homas lowered his voice sinisterly and said, "Officer Adam, I think this guy is too stubborn. We need to find a way to make him confess!" Officer Adam thought for a moment, then grinned and said, "Leave no traces." "No, these people were all sent by the Shaw family. They have nothing to do with us," Homas quickly added. He then waved his hand, and a group of bodyguards with sticks came in. They moved straight toward Jack, raising their sticks and striking down. "Bang! Bang! Bang!" With a series of muffled sounds, all the bodyguards were kicked away by Jack and slammed into the wall. Seeing this, Victor and Homas were terrified. These bodyguards were elite fighters hired by the Shaw family at a high price, capable of taking on three men outside. They never expected that so many of them couldn't defeat Jack, who was still handcuffed. What kind of monster was this guy? "I'm going out," Jack said as he got up and walked toward the dungeon door. "You, stop!" Victor shouted, pointing at Jack while retreating. He pushed Homas in front of him, but Homas was even more scared! Suddenly, Homas pulled out a pistol and aimed it at Jack's head. "Stop, or I'll shoot!" he yelled. Jack paused and said coldly, "You'd better put that gun down. I don't like people pointing things at my head." "Haha, I think you're scared!" Homas sneered, gasping for breath. "I'll give you three seconds to lie on the ground!" Jack smiled and walked toward Homas without hesitation. "Three!" Homas shouted, his face twisted with fury. Jack took another step forward. "Two!" Jack took another step forward. "One!" Homas roared at the top of his voice, ready to pull the trigger! At this critical moment, a loud voice came from outside the interrogation room. "Stop!" The dungeon door was kicked open, and a young man rushed in. Victor was about to scold the man when he was stunned upon seeing him. "Secretary, Secretary Wilde?" The man who appeared was the assistant to the South State governor, Asgore! "Victor, how dare you!" Asgore glared at Victor and shouted, "Who allowed you to leave the state without permission and come to Wyndcrest to throw your weight around?!" "I, I received a report that someone was pretending to be General Steele, so I, I..." Victor stuttered, trying to defend himself. "How dare you make excuses? If it's related to General Steele, why didn't you report it to the government?" Victor fell silent. He had handled this as a personal matter, using his authority improperly. How could he dare report it to the governor? Still feeling indignant, Victor thought to himself. He was considered a capable subordinate by the government. It seemed disrespectful for Asgore to scold him publicly over a fake General Steele! Thinking of this, Victor said, "He's just a liar pretending to be General Steele. Is it necessary to bother the government over such a small matter? Asgore, your job is to assist the government, not cause trouble for him! Besides, I'm an officer of the local police station. As an assistant, what right do you have to reprimand me?" "If he's not qualified, then am I?" A voice sounded right after Victor finished speaking. Trembling, Victor froze on the spot as if struck by lightning. He then saw an older figure slowly walking in from outside the door. "Gov...Governor?!" Victor's eyes widened, utterly stunned. He had never imagined that such a trivial matter would alert the governor. How could it be possible for a fake?! While Victor was still in shock, something even more terrifying happened. The governor quickly walked up to Jack, took a deep breath, and knelt on one knee! "I, James Dodge, Governor of South State, pay my respects to General Steele!" Victor and Homas instantly turned pale. They stood frozen, overwhelmed by shock. 'How is this possible? Wasn't General Steele already dead? How could this man be him?' "General, I'm deeply sorry for arriving late. I let you suffer!" James said angrily. "You came just in time," Jack replied calmly. He looked up at West Williams, standing outside the dungeon. He had risked going to the governor personally to report what had happened in Wyndcrest. Without that, things could have been much worse. At this time, Drake was also released from another interrogation room. He hurried over to Jack with a grim expression and said, "Sir, bad news!" "What's wrong?" Jack asked, frowning. "The Steele family and the Shaw family are digging up your parents' graves!"
