Chapter 68

908 Words
Yuri had always disliked Emily. Emily was more outstanding, and many pursued her. Yuri's initial envy had transformed into deep-seated jealousy. Today, she finally had the chance to thoroughly humiliate the person she envied so much! Emily's relatives were all watching the spectacle, waiting for her to apologize. They chimed in one after another. "Emily, just admit your mistake. With the way your family is now, you can't even afford living expenses without help!" "That's right, we're all family. Admitting a mistake isn't shameful." "Yeah, your useless boyfriend is unreliable. Just apologize so Bocoy can introduce you to someone better." At this moment, a voice, calm to the extreme, suddenly broke the silence, "And what if she doesn't apologize?" Everyone was shocked when they heard this, noticing that Jack, who had been sitting quietly in the corner, had stood up. His expression was calm as he walked over to stand behind Emily, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You all keep demanding that Emily apologize. I'd like to know what exactly she did wrong." "Shut up! You're not allowed to speak!" Yuri glared at him furiously and shouted, "You're just a r****t and a fraud. If you keep talking, get out!" Jack frowned slightly, and a cold aura emanated from him. Even if one doesn't normally care about a rat, it's extremely disgusting when it repeatedly crawls over your feet. Just as he was about to teach Yuri a lesson, the door to the private room was suddenly pushed open, and a group of men with fierce expressions, holding wine glasses, walked in. Bocoy instantly turned pale when he saw Ray among them. "Boss Ray! Why are you here?!" Bocoy hurriedly stood up to greet him. The man at the door was none other than Ray, Boss of Northside! Bocoy, who had taken on a subcontracting job for the slum, knew that Ray was the one securing the safety of the project. This meant that the person in charge had a terrifying background! But Bocoy never expected that Ray would show up at his family gathering. What was going on? Yuri carefully approached and asked, "Bocoy, is Boss Ray here for you? Didn't you just take on a subcontracting job for the slums?" "Maybe," Bocoy replied uncertainly. After all, apart from himself, none of his poor relatives had any connections with Ray. Surely, it couldn't be for Jack, that r****t? "Bocoy, go and greet him!" Yuri urged. Summoning his courage, Bocoy stepped forward with a glass of wine and respectfully said, "We are honored by your presence, Boss Ray! It is the greatest blessing from God for you to join us here today!" After a brief moment of surprise, the relatives quickly applauded, their eyes filled with admiration for Bocoy. Yuri's boyfriend was amazing; he even had connections with the Boss of Northside and got him to personally toast them! Compared to Bocoy, Jack was nothing but a fraud! However, Ray frowned. His men had informed him that Mr. Steele and Miss Foster were dining here, so he brought people over to pay his respects. But before he could greet Jack, this unknown i***t kept interrupting him—so irritating! "Quick, everyone, raise your glasses. Let's toast Boss Ray together!" Bocoy called out. The relatives eagerly lifted their glasses, thrilled to be drinking with such a powerful figure, thanks to Bocoy. This was something they could brag about for a year! But they noticed that Jack and Emily remained seated, showing no intention of toasting. Their initial excitement turned to anger. Yuri, her face twisted with rage, shouted, "Emily, are you blind? Don't you see we're all toasting? Get up now! And you, the r****t, if you want to die, don't drag us down with you! If you make Boss Ray angry, I won't let you off!" Yet, Jack and Emily still didn't move. To them, Ray was just a subordinate thug, not someone worth toasting. Yuri, on the verge of losing her sanity, thought, "This is our family's golden opportunity to connect with Boss Ray. How could Emily be so malicious to ruin it?" "You filthy slut!" Yuri screamed, raising her hand to slap Emily. None of the relatives tried to stop her. In their eyes, Emily deserved to be slapped for ruining their chance to curry favor with Ray. But just then, a large hand caught Yuri's wrist. She assumed some foolish relative had dared to stop her and cursed, "Let go, you i***t! Who do you think you are, getting in my way?" When she turned around, her vicious expression froze. The one stopping her was none other than Ray, Boss Ray! Ray's face was dark, his expression like a storm cloud ready to burst. He sneered, "What did you just call Miss Foster?" All the relatives' faces turned pale, and the hands holding wine glasses couldn't stop trembling in fear. Miss Foster? Emily Foster? Yuri was terrified, unable to say a word for what felt like an eternity. Bocoy was also very nervous and was about to step forward to speak. But Billy, who was standing on the side, slapped him in the face, knocking him to the ground. "Bah! What kind of f*****g trash are you? Do you think you're worthy of talking to my big brother? Get lost! If you delay our boss from making a toast to the lady, I'll take your life!" With that, he kicked Bocoy to the ground.
