Chapter 11

Without saying a word, Jack bypassed the hysterical Nancy and walked outside. He knew that the Yates family would come, so he stayed. In the room, Emily grabbed her mother's hand and cried out, "Mom, Jenny brought a bulldozer to demolish our house. When I tried to stop her, she hit me. Jack hit her because of me. We need to help him!" Nancy's voice was sharp, "Don't touch me! Emily, eight years ago, you disgraced our family's reputation and brought down the entire Foster family. Don't you feel any guilt?" Pointing at Emily, Nancy continued to scold, "If it weren't for the benefits of your potential marriage, I would have cut ties with you long ago. Now you want us to help that jinx?" "Even if George is dead, there are still other gentlemen! Your only job now is to treat your body with prosperity and glory to the family, to make up for the suffering we've endured for eight years!" Nancy shouted hysterically. The events of eight years ago turned Nancy, once a noblewoman enjoying a luxurious life, into a downtrodden housewife. This huge disparity had long twisted her heart, leaving no room for family affection. Outside the Foster family villa, Jack stood coldly, staring at the large group of thugs before him. The crowd, here for the excitement, fled to a safer distance when they saw the intimidating scene, still peeking at the situation. Sam walked up to Jack with a grim expression, his eyes almost spewing fire. "Jack, my son just died at your hands, and now you've hurt my daughter! Even if I die, I'll drag you to hell with me!" "Are you done?" Jack's tone was calm. "If so, you can take action. I am quite busy." "You... you!!" Sam was trembling with rage. He waved his hand and shouted, "Kill him! I want his blood to avenge my son!" A group of thugs, brandishing weapons, charged at Jack, roaring fiercely. "You're not worthy of Mr. Steele's attention." Drake appeared at Jack's side. He rushed into the throng of thugs, his fists swinging like powerful mecha, knocking down each opponent. Cries of pain echoed through the air. In a short time, all the thugs lay on the ground, bleeding. While Drake, not even breaking a sweat, walked calmly to Sam. "Who... who are you?" Sam was terrified, his legs giving way as he collapsed to the floor. "Mr. Steele killed your son because your son coveted his wife. He deserved it," Drake said slowly, standing over Sam. "Your family brought this upon yourselves by repeatedly provoking Mr. Steele. The Yates family shall never exist in Wyndcrest anymore." With that, Drake raised his hand to deliver the killing blow. At that moment, a commanding voice rang out, "Killing in public, with so many witnesses? How dare you!" Drake paused and turned his head. A group of Steele family members, led by a stern-looking young man in military uniform, approached quickly. Drake glanced at Jack, who remained unfazed. Taking this as a sign to proceed, Drake instantrly crushed Sam's throat. "Stop!" the young officer roared, leaping forward to intervene. But it was too late. With a sickening crack, Sam's neck snapped, his eyes bulging grotesquely. The young officer froze, as did the Steele family members. The Yates family was a key partner in the Steele family's underground casino operations. Their financial ties were strong, so when trouble arose for Sam, the Steele family sought help from their military guest. However, given the guest's high status, he certainly wouldn't intervene personally. Instead, he sent one of his guards to accompany the Steele family. He thought that since Jack was also a soldier, one of his guards would be sufficient to resolve this farce. But they hadn't anticipated Jack's disregard for the officer's presence, allowing his subordinate to act so ruthlessly. The officer glared at Drake, then stepped up to Jack. "You dare kill in front of me? You're asking for death!" Jack glanced at the officer but didn't respond, turning to leave instead. Enraged, the officer reached out to grab Jack's shoulder. "How dare you!" Drake intercepted, swatting the officer's hand away and barking, "State your rank and name!" As one of the ten war generals of the Skyblade, Drake's rank was equivalent to that of a major general. Normally, he restrained his aura while by Jack's side; otherwise, no one would dare to underestimate him as they did now. "You two are dead!" The officer sneered, refusing to identify himself. "Scum like you are a disgrace to the Federal Army! You ruin the reputation of Federation soldiers!" Before Drake could retort, Jack spoke calmly, "Drake, there's no need to argue. I know who his superior is. I'll visit him personally." "Yes, sir!" Drake replied respectfully, casting a warning glance at the officer before following Jack out. "Sir, you can't let them get away with this." Tom hurriedly urged the officer. "I don't need your advice," the officer snapped. "That man is formidable. If I engage, I might get injured." "There's no rush. That Jack vowed to confront the Steele family in two days. We'll settle it then," the officer said before leaving to report to his superior. Meanwhile, Jack decided against returning to the Foster villa. The closer he got to them before dealing with the Steele family, the more danger he brought to them. He wanted to keep Emily out of harm's way and decided to limit their contact for now, knowing they had plenty of time ahead. "Sir, the villa you requested has been purchased at the highest point of Dragon Crest," Drake reported. "Good. Let's take a look," Jack decided. He didn't want his and Emily's future home to be just a hotel room, so he had Drake buy a house for them. Unexpectedly, Drake bought the most luxurious villa in Wyndcrest. They drove to the foot of Dragon Crest. Remembering his foster parents' graves were only ten minutes away, Jack directed, "Drake, let's visit the cemetery first." Drake complied, changing direction. Walking through the cemetery, Jack felt waves of nostalgia and guilt for the loving memories with his foster parents. Soon, they reached the two gravestones. The area was overgrown with weeds, and the gravestones were covered in dust, clearly neglected. Jack cleaned the area meticulously. Jack sat in front of the tombstone, silently stroking the cold marble for a long time before speaking, "Dad, Mom, the Steele family will pay dearly. I will find my sister. Please bless her." With that, he stood and left. As they exited the cemetery, they saw a group of middle-aged people with shovels hurrying towards the graves. Leading them was a stout woman, who eagerly marched towards the gravesite of Jack's parents. With a hint of excitement in her voice, she exclaimed, "Hurry up! We're almost there. I've heard that there are valuable items hidden in that abandoned grave!" The group reached Jack's foster parents' graves. The stout woman pointed and shouted, "Dig it up! All of it!"
