At this moment, Jack, standing at the entrance of the cemetery, saw a group of people carrying shovels heading straight toward his parents' graves. A bad feeling arose in his heart. "Drake, let's take a look!" Jack said, remembering that the only graves in that area were his parents'. Drake nodded and followed Jack towards the group.
In front of the graves of Jack's parents, two men hesitated and shook their heads, saying, "These graves have been recently cleaned. We shouldn't disturb them."
Barbara Thompson, the stout woman, hands on hips, rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Who cares? Are you digging or not? If not, get lost!"
Reluctantly, the men approached the graves, apologizing silently. They picked up their tools, ready to start digging.
Seeing a group of people about to desecrate his parents' grave, Jack rushed forward and shouted angrily, "Stop!"
Startled, the two men nearly tumbled off the graves. Barbara was furious, her hefty waist swaying as she angrily confronted Jack, "What a scumbag is yelling? It's none of your business!"
"These are my parents' graves. Who permitted you to dig?" Jack's voice was icy with anger and he stared at her.
"Well, that makes it easier," Barbara sneered, tossing some cash from her bag at Jack. "Here's $20,000. This plot is mine now." She gestured for the men to continue.
Seeing this, Jack signaled Drake with a glance. Drake leaped forward, kicking the men away from the graves.
Furious, Barbara demanded, "Do you know who I am?" Jack slapped her hard, knocking her to the ground.
"You... you dare to hit me?!" Barbara clutched her face, screaming hysterically.
Jack threw the two stacks of money in front of Barbara, his voice calm. "Whoever you are, you should feel fortunate, because I don't want to kill in front of my parents' graves. Or, you'd already be dead," he said. Despite his steady tone, the murderous intent in his eyes made Barbara shudder, unable to utter the harsh words she had prepared.
"Get out of here! If you ever think about digging this grave again, I will make you pay a heavy price!" Hearing Jack's words, Barbara immediately scrambled to her feet and ran away with the others.
Enraged but frightened, Barbara vowed revenge in her mind, though she dared not voice it aloud. "The next time I see him, I'll make sure he pays! Anyone provokes me is truly seeking death!"
Watching Barbara and her panicked group flee, Jack, suppressing his rage, ordered Drake, "Arrange for this place to be properly maintained. I don't want anyone disturbing my parents again."
"Yes, sir!" Drake replied promptly, immediately taking out his phone to issue instructions. From now on, guards would secretly watch over Jack's parents' graves.
When Jack was away from Wyndcrest, no one took care of his parents' graves, leading to thoughts of seizing them. Now that he's back, this will never happen again!"
Leaving the cemetery, Jack and Drake headed to Dragon Crest. They walked the scenic path up to appreciate the view.
Suddenly, a sharp honk blared behind them. Jack frowned. He and Drake walked along the wide roadside, clearly not blocking the path. Why was the car horn honking so persistently?
Jack turned around to see a BMW Z4. Inside, a young couple had rolled down the window, sneering arrogantly. "Get out of the way, you beggars! Don't block our path!" the woman in the passenger seat shouted disdainfully.
Drake moved to teach them a lesson, but Jack stopped him. They were not worth it.
The BMW sped off, leaving a cloud of dust.
Minutes later, Jack and Drake reached the villa sales center. Drake went to fetch the keys, while Jack examined a detailed model of the villa area. These models were all meticulously crafted to accurately replicate the appearance of the Dragon Crest villa area, providing a good preview.
The Dragon Crest was the best location in all of Wyndcrest. It boasted an elegant environment, a pleasant climate, and stunning scenery. The villas there were home to the top echelon of Wyndcrest's society. Among them, the largest and most luxuriously decorated was the sole villa at the hilltop.
"Sir, this is your house," Drake pointed to the highest, most lavish villa on the model.
Satisfied, Jack was about to speak when a scornful voice interrupted, "Putting on airs has limits. Pretending to buy the most expensive villa? The Wyndcrest's richest can't afford it. How can you?"
Turning, Jack saw the couple from the BMW. The woman sneered, "Bad luck seeing you here. How did they let you beggars in such an upscale place?" The woman, noticing Jack looking at her, displayed a look of disgust on her face.
