"He's... dead!"
Everyone stared at Jack in horror. Those who had falsely accused him trembled with fear. 'Who was this guy? How could he kill someone so easily and not fear the consequences?'
Lily was also terrified, her face pale as she looked at Jack. Jack had no interest in explaining himself to these "classmates." He turned to leave the room. Lily bit her lip and followed him outside.
"Jack, wait," she called, stopping him outside the restaurant.
"Is there anything else?" Jack's tone was distant as if speaking to a stranger.
"Inside, the... the room..." Lily stammered.
"I haven't retired yet. I'm just visiting family, so I don't need a job. As for killing, that's within my rights," Jack said, walking away.
Lily stood stunned, recalling her father's stories of special military units. These units had the authority to kill without facing legal consequences. Could Jack be part of such a unit?
No wonder he kept shaking his head when asked about his position in the military. It's not that he didn't have a position; it's just that his position is not convenient to disclose, involving military secrets! Realizing this, Lily's impression of Jack improved again.
Suddenly, a black Mercedes pulled up beside her, and Ms. Wilson, pale and shaken, stepped out.
"Ms. Wilson?" Lily rushed to her. "Who saved you? What happened to those men?"
Ms. Wilson took a moment to gather herself. "I was taken, but before we got far, a man named Drake rescued me and sent me back."
"Drake?" Lily frowned, unfamiliar with the name.
"He said he's Jack's comrade," Ms. Wilson explained.
"What?!" Lily was stunned. She realized why Jack didn't react initially; he knew his friend was outside and that Ms. Wilson was safe. But they misunderstood and accused him wrongly.
Realizing this, Lily wanted to apologize to Jack immediately. But he was already gone.
Ms. Wilson listened to the whole story and sighed, "You can't blame yourselves. You were worried about me. But I've known Jack since he was a kid. I know he is a good man."
Ms. Wilson then remembered something, "By the way, your birthday is coming up soon. Just invite him to your party, and everything will be cleared up."
"Yes!" Lily's eyes lit up as she pulled out her phone to send a message.
Meanwhile, Jack walked to a deserted riverside area where the black Mercedes had followed him. Drake stepped out.
"Sir, I've got the information," Drake reported. "The Yates and Steele families' project is an underground casino. Ms. Wilson's ex-husband lost money there and took out a high-interest loan. But the real reason is that Tom Steele wants Ms. Wilson, using this as an excuse."
"So, the Steele family are involved," Jack sneered.
'He was seen this bald man at the Yates family banquet. At that time, he was standing behind Tom, meaning he was actually a thug for the Steele family. Today, he suddenly became associated with the Yates family. There must be a conspiracy!'
"What about the Steele family? Any movements?" Jack asked.
"None," Drake replied. "Jack Group shares remain unchanged, and they have no plans to repent at your parents' graves. They're hosting a military guest at Eastwoods Hotel in two days."
"Well, let's show them what despair tastes," Jack said, eyes narrowing.
"Got it. I'll make the arrangements," Drake said, turning to leave but then remembered something. "Sir, Edwin's brother will be at the Eastwoods Hotel for his sister-in-law's birthday party."
"Okay. Assess Edwin's brother's condition then," Jack said.
His phone buzzed with a message just as a call came in.
"Jack, where are you? can you come over?" Emily's worried voice said.
"I'm on my way. Three minutes," Jack said, sensing trouble. He drove quickly to the Foster family villa, where a crowd had gathered.
Though Jack was unaware of what was happening inside, he could already see a bulldozer parked in front of the Foster family villa.
Outside the Foster family villa, the bulldozer rumbled as it operated. Emily stood in front of the villa with her arms outstretched, blocking the shovel of the bulldozer.
A haughty beautiful woman slapped Emily's face and stared at her fiercely. "Get out of the way, b***h! I swear I'll tear your house down today!"
"Miss Yates, your brother was killed by thugs. Why blame us?" Emily demanded, holding her face in anger.
"f**k you, b***h!" Jenny Yates kicked Emily in her chest and ground her heel into her face, crushing her hard. "Because you, a jinx, is going to marry into my family, my brother met a villain. You're a curse!"
Emily screamed in pain but couldn't escape.
Seeing this, Jack's killing intent filled the air, chilling everyone around.
"Take your foot off her!" Drake shouted, stepping forward.
Jenny not only didn't move her foot but also contemptuously said, "Who do you think you are, some lowlife, daring to interfere with my affairs? You're courting death!" She continued pressing down with force under her foot.
Drake was angry and about to act, but Jack moved faster, kicking Jenny away. She crashed into the bulldozer, screaming in pain.
