Chapter 1
I'm a vampire who makes a living livestreaming blood readings.
As long as I touch someone's blood, I can see everything they've seen through their own eyes over the past seven days.
Whatever they saw, I see.
Whoever they touched, I know.
It's a hereditary family ability.
I used it to start a livestream where I help my followers figure out whether their partners are cheating on them.
After class, I went back to the dorm, set up my phone like usual, and sat down with my roommates, Stella and Nia.
Whenever I made money from my livestreams, I bought them barbecue, so at this point, they were even more invested in my business than I was. They were basically my assistants now.
Today's package from a fan had already been opened and placed on the desk. Inside was a tube of blood.
Her username was "Vivi," and she happened to be watching the livestream too.
Vivi: [Please look at mine first! My crush is an elite werewolf, and I want to know if he's been getting flirty with other girls.]
The number of people watching shot up.
"Sure." I tore open the blood bag and poured the blood into my palm.
The next second, a werewolf's first-person perspective appeared before my eyes.
The guy was shooting hoops. Everyone around him was one of his teammates.
Guys. Guys. More guys.
Not a single girl.
Seven days passed, and I still hadn't seen him come into contact with a single woman.
By the time I finished, I was drenched in sweat.
Mostly because the pheromones in his blood were ridiculously intense. I could barely handle them.
But something didn't add up. This guy was an elite werewolf in the middle of his rut, yet he hadn't touched a single woman.
Was that even normal?
The chat was already blowing up, demanding an answer.
Without thinking, I blurted out, "Girl, this guy might have some performance issues. I'd suggest making the first move and finding out for yourself."
The chat went absolutely insane.
A: [What? LMAOOOO!]
B: [An elite werewolf with ED? No way!]
C: [Vivi, who's your crush? Wanna DM me?]
Stella leaned over and whispered, "Cathy, you're on the campus forum. Everyone's questioning your credibility."
I didn't even flinch. "Who cares? Bad publicity is still publicity."
I ended the livestream half an hour later.
I grabbed the trash bag and headed downstairs. The second I stepped out of the dorm, a phone screen nearly smacked me in the face.
It was showing a recording of my livestream.
A man's voice came from above me, low and furious, every word practically bitten out.
"Cathy Wood."
I looked up.
Brian Hayes had sharp, striking features, with a hint of wild arrogance lurking in his eyes. He radiated raw physical power.
Werewolves ran hot during their rut. Even with more than a foot between us, I could feel the heat rolling off his body.
Brian glared at me. "You better feel me up and find out if I'm man enough."
That was... a pretty crude way to put it.
My eyes instinctively dropped for a second before I immediately looked away.
"What is going on?" I stared at him in confusion. "That blood was yours?"
Brian's expression turned cold as he lowered his phone. "Grace did it."
I blinked. "Grace Vale? The campus queen?"
He patiently explained, "She stole my bloodstained jersey, extracted the blood, and mailed it to you."
The campus queen stole his jersey? What kind of ridiculous move was that?
I frowned. "How do you know it was her?"
"She sent me the recording of your livestream." Brian's face darkened. "Then she asked me what it felt like to have you publicly analyze me."
Oh. This was bad. I kind of wanted to die.
"Well..." I took half a step back and forced an awkward smile. "Technically, I was just making a reasonable assumption."
"A reasonable assumption?" Brian stepped forward, completely erasing the distance I'd just put between us.
"Look," I said, tilting my head back and desperately trying to sound calm. "You're an elite werewolf, you're ridiculously good-looking, and you're in rut but haven't found yourself a partner. That's obviously suspicious."
He let out a cold laugh. "So you decided that meant I couldn't perform?"
"Well, what else was I supposed to think?" I said, completely unapologetic. "A normal guy would have found himself a girlfriend and taken care of the problem already."
Brian actually laughed in disbelief, the heat of his breath brushing across my forehead.
"That's because..."
