16th February
Same s**t different day!
Connor and Daniel met Autumn by the bridge walking to school.
The bell rang and they went into registration before going to lesson.
Stenton called her over, she swallowed walking to him sitting down.
“I’d like to apologise for the other day Red. I was out of line that day does some weird s**t it me so I’m sorry do you forgive me?”
“Yeah, you’re forgiven.”
He smiled widely. “So, we’re still friends?”
“We are.”
He grinned. So we can still work together and do our homework together.’
“Yes, we can.”
He smiled.
“Right class let’s begin shall we?”
The bell rang and everyone slipped out of the room and walked down the corridor with Stanton who was giving her ear ache.
“I’ll catch you later Stenton.”
“Sure.”
She turned walking into her next class. She decided to avoid Harry as nine of then were flaking as he was obviously avoiding her. All of them were acting strangely what had Connor said to them all?”
“You okay babe? You seem a little tense.”
“I’m fine. It’s just weird having lessons with the guys and nine of us are talking.”
“It will work itself out babe.”
“I hope so.”
“So have you seen Stenton today?”
“Yeah, he apologised for Valentine’s Day he said the day makes him do wiped shit.”
“That’s for sure. Never thought he’d be one to apologise for it though.”
“I think he was just scared I wouldn’t talk to him again.”
“Most girls don’t?”
“I’m not most girl Con.”
“That’s why I like you as much as I do, you’re perfect.”
“I’m not.”
“You are babe.” He said, kissing her forehead.
The bell rang they doubted their cigarettes out. Walking away.
“I’ll see you at lunch okay.”
“Okay.”
Autumn went into her next lesson sitting down looking out of her window. Wishing the guys round here would just leave her the hell alone and get in with it.
“You okay Miss. Cleveland?”
“Yeah, sorry.”
The bell rang and she met up with Connor and the Daniel for lunch. She wished they’d all just talk to one another so things could go back to the way they were. Once they were done with eating they went outside to have a cigarette before their final last two lessons.
Connor dropped his arm over her kissing her cheek. “You okay babe?”
“Yeah.”
He smiled
They walked out of school saying their goodbyes.
“I’ll see you two Monday?”
“Later Dan.”
“Yeah, later.”
He leaned forward. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
“I can’t. I have a lot of homework, Con.”
“Sunday then?”
“Yeah sure.”
He pressed his lips on hers, kissing her hungrily.
He moved away. “Night babe.”
“Yeah, later Con.”
17th February
Mathew stood waiting for Autumn she couldn’t believe she’d lied to her mom and Conor.
Why had she let him talk her into this?
He looked at her at his watch where was she, had she bailed on their deal? She finally came into sight as she walked strenuously over the bridge she really wasn’t looking forward to today. Now almost tee minutes late why would her excuse be? She was dressed had to foot in black this would be the second time that he would see her in her normal attire. Her face glowed with dark makeup under the sun this really complimented her glasses. ‘You needn’t have dressed up for me.’
“I didn’t I always go out like this.”
“Oh.. well, at least now I know why you’re late.”
“I was talking to Con.”
“So what did you tell him?k
“I had a headache and I was going to take some tablets and I was going to rest a while.’
“Smart move.”
”Not really, mom gave me the twenty questions. I told her I just wanted to be alone today.”
“Another wise move.”
“Let’s just get this over with.’
“I can see you’re not happy with this arrangement.”
“It’s blackmail.”
“Anything to spend time with you out of school hours.”
“You’re such a…”
He pressed his lips against hers kissing her. She backed away. “Oh I get it. Not out here I full view of everyone that can see us.” He took her hand in his. “Come on.”
“Where are we going?”
“Away from idle whispers.”
“Oh okay.” She said, nervously.
He pulled her away, her hand still in his.
“Where are we going, Matt?’
“You’ll see.”
“Matt!”
He ignored her continuing to pull her with him to the outskirts of the town onto Pen river Drive.
“Where are we going Matt?”
“Here.” He said, opening the first door of two.
“Where’s here?”
He lead her down the corridor to number 2. “My apartment.” He said, as he opened the door leading her in closing the door behind them.
“How did you..”
“Uni costs a bomb, but it’s worth it.”
He pulled her through into the living area fully furnished, tv, stereo and dvd, the walls beige and the sofa a dark colour. “Take a seat and I’ll do us both a coffee.”
“But I..”
“It don’t bite Autumn, sit.”
She sat down cautiously as he disappeared into he kitchen. She sat nervously and slightly agitated. “I bet you’ll be glad to get rid of those glasses?”
“They’re growing on me.”
“So, how long did they tell you, you had to wear them for?”
“Not sure it just depends on how well my eye heals it looks good. They recon I’ll only need them for my exams.”
“That’s good to hear.”
“Yeah.’”
He returned to the living area placing the coffee’s down sitting next to her making her more nervous. “You haven’t got to be nervous of me Autumn I’m your friend.”
“You sure as hell have a funny way of showing it.”
He slid his fingers through her hair making her more agitated. “I only want what’s best for you.”
“Keeping my trap shut is best for me.”
“I hope your friends appreciate it cause it ever gets out you’ll all be in a whole world of shit.”
“Well it won’t will it?”
“Not if you stick to our arrangement.”
She looked baffled at him. “You said today you never mentioned anything else.”
“Did I have to?”
“Yes you did.” She said, angrily.
“Sorry, it slipped my mind.”
“You promised Matt. You said if I met you today it would stay between us.’”
“And it will as long as long as you see me when I say.’”
“But Con, my homework.’”
‘“You’ll work around it. I know everything about you Autumn you’ll work it out.’’
“Bu…’”
He edged closer.
“That’s the deal or I go to Greyson first thing Monday morning.”
She looked into his hollow eyes they showed no emotion in hers. “Fine.” She sighed, defeated.
He smiled. “Good.’” He edged in closer to her. “And if you break our deal I shall go to him and tell him everything.”
“I won’t. I promise.”
His lips touched hers, she backed away. He followed her Til there was no where for her to go she felt suffocated him now on top of her, her head spinning as he continued to kiss her more aggressively she felt faint. He finally pulled away from their embrace. “We do this my way Autumn my rules are we clear?”
“Yeah.”
“Good.”
He leaned forward.
“I have to get back.”
“What about your coffee?”
“I’m not thirsty.”
“Please Autumn. I just want to spend some time together alone with you.”
“To blackmail me?”
“No.” He said, pulling himself up picking the cup up. “Here.”
She looked at it then him. He smiled. She pulled herself up talking it off him sipping it.
“I’ll walk you back.’”
“No it’s fine.”
“I want to.”
They drank their coffees he looked at her she turned looking at him her eyes glazed. “I best be going.’”
‘“Sure.”
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her lowering her down onto the sofa kissing her harder and harder with tongue. Her head spinning.
“Autumn, Autumn wakey wakey sleepy head.”
“Mmm.”
“It’s nearly six.”
“Shit.” Her eyes shot open her body shot up, falling back down.
“Take it easy Autumn, you’ve just woke.”
“How long have I been asleep for?”
“A few hours.”
“Oh.” She replied, looking nervously at him.
“I didn’t do nought. You can trust me Autumn.”
“I best be going mom will have my head if I’m not back soon.”
“Sure I’ll walk you to the lake.”
He took her hand pulling them both to their feet leading her out of the living area and the apartment closing and locking the door behind them walking away heading towards the lake.
They stood by the lake. “I’ll see you Monday.”
“Okay.”
He pulled her around. “Don’t tell anyone about this or about us Autumn won’t understand.”
“I won’t.” (But what was there to understand apart from he was blackmailing her to keep his silence)
He pecked her on the cheek. “Bright and early.”
“Sure.”
“Night Autumn.’
“Night Matt.”
He walked away tears slipped off her face did she really fall asleep or was there more or it? She whipped her tears away lighting a cigarette.
