18th February Autumn sat looking over the lake the ice had finally melted so had the snow. At least she could put the tragedy behind her. His shadow overcast her. He sat down next to her. ‘Your mom said you’d be out here.’ She looked up into his blue eyes. “Con.” “So I take it you forgot?’” “Forgot what?” “We’re studying today.” “I don’t think I can Con. I have a migraine.” “Like yesterday?” “Yes.” “Don’t lie to me, babe.” “I’m not.” “The guys saw you with Harding.” He looked into her eyes. “What’s going on babe?” Her lips trembled, tears trickled down her face. ”Babe.” “I can’t tell you.” “We’re friends.” “I can’t, I promised.” “He’s your shrink babe, he has no right to impose himself upon you out side school hours, unless you agree with it.” She looked at him, her mascara smudged within her tears. “You’re both going to get in s**t babe if anyone catches you.” “It’s not like that.” “So how is it? You ditched me for him and I’m not supposed to be vexed.” He asked, angrily. “He knows Con.” He looked shocked at her. “What! How?” “He overheard me and Dan talking I had no idea he was there Con. If I don’t do this he’ll tell Grayson.” “Not if you tell him first.” “No I can’t. I promised.” “You can’t let him blackmail you babe.” “I have no other choice.” “You do go to Grayson.” “I can’t Con, you’re all my friends.” “They’ll understand.” “No, they won’t.” “Yes, they will.” “Just let me do this my way, okay.” “Okay.” He sighed. “Just remember if it gets too much go to Grayson, he’ll understand.” “Okay.” “I love you babe, just watch what you’re doing.” “I will.” He pressed his lips on hers kissing her. He moved away just holding her. 19th February Autumn was not looking forward to school today. She hated the winter, hopefully there hadn't been any more snow for a while. She was dreading school knowing that she had to see Mathew again, she wasn't sure that she could face him again, ever. Connor had met her on the bridge when she looked at him. “I'm surprised you even showed your face today.” “We won’t be in for long, there forecasting more snow by the end of the week, guaranteed.” “How can they be so sure?” “Not sure, but it's in the air, all the clouds are almost stuck together and looking as if they're about to burst. Come on let’s waste a morning.” He dropped his arm over her and they walked away. The clouds are getting thicker and the sky is getting darker. “You okay babe?” “Yeah fine, let’s get to school.’” “Won’t be much better there babe, trust me.” “Red, Con.” “Dan.” '”Looks like we're in for snow.” '”It does.'” Great just great. The bell rang and they all went in for registration. Connor kissed Autumn on the cheek. “I’ll see you for your next lesson okay babe.” “Okay.” “Later Red.” “Dan.” They all walked in seperate directions to their lesosns. She made her way to the office to see Mathew. He smiled. “It’s nice to see you this morning Autumn.” “Mmm.” She grumbled, stepping into the room to take her spot on the sofa. He closed the door and strolled over to his seat and sat down. He looked at her. “It looks like we’re in for snow again.” “I guess.” “They recon we’re in for at least another month of this shit.’ “Really.” “Yeah guess we may have to postpone our secret meeting until it’s all over.” “I guess.” “What’s wrong autumn you don’t seem your normal self today.” “Sorry. I guess I’m not good company today.” “You’re always good company Autumn.” The bell rang he guessed they wouldn’t be talking much today after all. She pulled herself up. “If the snow keeps of fill see you Thursday and you can tell me what’s on your mind today okay.” She nodded and walked out. The snow had come down heavier and by break everyone was stuck inside and as lunch approached everyone was sent home. Connor, Autumn and Daniel walked home together through the glittery winds and snow. “I’ll see you guys once the weather is better, but I don’t think this s**t is going anywhere soon.” “Sure bro, catch ya later.” “Con, Red.” “Later Dan.” Daniel walked away. “How’s about we hang at yours for a while?” “Are you sure Con? I mean it’s coming down pretty heavy.” “It’s cool. Unless you don’t want us to hang.” “I do, but what about the snow?” “It’s fine babe, I’ll get home okay so chill.” “Okay.” He smiled. “Let’s go hang.” She nodded and he dropped his arm over her shoulder and they walked back to her house. 27th Feb - 3rd March The weather had got worse over the past few days and Connor was forced to stay at autumn’s as they couldn’t open the front door when he had decided to finally go home. Now the snow was easing up he had decided to return home luckily he had his tee shirt and goggles stuffed in his bag or he would’ve been screwed. He’d thanked them for letting him stay and had kissed Autumn non the cheek telling her once the school was re-opened he would come to call for her. She nodded before saying goodbye. He smiled walking away.she closed the door behind her she was glad he had stayed or she would’ve been board out of her mind over the past three days. 4th March - 8th March Everyone was still off school due to the constant fall of snow they were all getting restless but now it was fried at the snow was slowly clearing and was melting after the down our of rain Mathew had managed to contact autumn though she had no idea where he had obtained her mobile nimbler from and was too scared to ask cause if he had done what she thought he had done he’d be in a whole world of s**t and escorted off the premises cause it was against the law to have any contact with students outside school. He’d assured her that it wasn’t illegal he’d just dialled for assistance and they’d given him her number. She hadn’t quiet believed him but what could she do? 9th March Mathew stood waiting for Autumn she couldn’t believe she’d lied to her mom and Conor. Why had she let him talk her into this? He looked at her at his watch where was she, had she bailed on their deal? She finally came into sight as she walked strenuously over the bridge she really wasn’t looking forward to today. Now almost tee minutes late why would her excuse be? She was dressed had to foot in black this would be the second time that he would see her in her normal attire. Her face glowed with dark makeup under the sun this really complimented her glasses, he grinned. “Beautiful as ever, Autumn. “Whatever lets do this.” “Did you manage to get out the house okay today?” ’Yeah, I told mom I wanted alone time. Con is out with our friends and I thought it was best if he did it alone so they wouldn’t feel like I was always around cause of Con. I told him to go alone I would go with him another time. He nodded. “Lets go then.” “Where are we going?” “Away from idle whispers.” “Oh okay .” She did nervously. He pulled her away, her hand still in his. ‘Where are we going Matt?’ “Home.” he said briefly. Pulipling her along to the only place they could be truly alone, his apartment. He lead her down the corridor to number 2 and opened the door leading her in closing the door behind them. He pulled her through into the living area fully furnished, tv, stereo and dvd, the walls beige and the sofa a dark colour. “Take a seat and I’ll do us both a coffee.” “But I..” “It don’t bite Autumn. Sit. Please.” She sat down cautiously as he disappeared into he kitchen. She sat nervously and slightly agitated. “I bet you’re find I g being off school boring with all of this snow?” “A little. I’ve done all my homework and relaxed.” until today. She thought, bitterly. She would rather be with Con right now. He returned to the living area placing the coffee’s down sitting next to her making her more nervous. ’You haven’t got to be nervous of me Autumn you’re safe here with me.” She nodded not quite believing him.
