7th December
Connor bounced over to Autumn smiling. “Good morning babe.”
“You’re in a good mood this morning.”
“I am, you’re coming back to mine after the flicks Saturday.”
“Am I?”
“You sure are. Well, that’s if it’s okay with you.”
“Sure sounds good.”
“Sweet let’s go.” He said kissing her cheek, dropping his arm over her shoulders.
They walked away heading to school.
“Hey, Con, Autumn.”
“Guys.”
They all went into the school as the bell rang saying their goodbyes before registration.
Autumn sat down. “Hey Red.” Stenton said, sitting next to her.
“Stenton.”
He smiled. “If we’ve got any homework do you fancy going to mine and doing it this weekend?”
“I’m going to the flicks with Conor and the guys Saturday.”
“Sunday then?”
“I don’t know.”
“It’s a date say two-ish.”
“I don’t know.”
“My dad will be there.; here’s the address unless you want me I meet you.”
“I think I can find my way there.” She said, as she took the card off him.
He smiled.
The bell rang for the end of the lesson they all picked up their belongings walking out of the room.
“I’ll see you in our next lesson together.”
“Sure late Stenton.”
“Later red..”
Connor slipped his arm over Autumn’s shoulder. “You okay babe?”
“Yeah. Just Stenton has invited me over to his Sunday to do homework.”
“Do you have any?”
“Yeah won’t take long, well I hope not.”
He smiled. “It’ll be okay babe. I’ll have a word.”
“He said his dad would be there.”
“Well at least I’ll have nothing to worry about.”
They went into their next class sitting down. They all pulled their books out Connor looked at Autumn, was there something she wasn’t telling him?
The bell rang and they all packed away soothing out of the room Connor dropped his arm over her shoulders.. “You okay babe?”
“Yeah fine.”
They met the others for a cigarette. “So are we still on for Saturday?”
“We are.”
“And Sunday?”
“Autumn can’t make it.”
“Why?”
“I have to go to Stenton’s.”
“Really?’ James said wriggling his eyebrows.
“It’s not like that, we’re doing homework.”
“Watch yourself homework doesn’t mean homework to the likes of Stenton.”
The bell rang. They all doubted out their cigarettes. Going into their last lesson before lunch.
They walked into the class sitting down. The bell rang for lunch.
Connor met Autumn and his friends for lunch, having a cigarette before the bell rang.
“Come on we best get to registration.”
“The guys said they’d meet us by the gates.”
“Sure.”
They all walked away to registration and then into their last two lessons.
Autumn looked out of the window wondering what the hell was wrong with Con she’d never seen him like that before his eyes scared her so cold, so hollow, so glazed. “You still with us Miss. Cleveland ?”
“Yeah.”
The bell rang for the end of the lesson and the end of another day. She walked out of school meeting Connor and the others. He dropped his arm over her before they all walked away. Saying their goodbyes. “I’ll see you two tomorrow.”
“Sure Dan later.”
“Yeah bye, Dan.”
“I’ll see you later babe.”
“Yeah, later Con.”
He walked away as she looked over the lake she hoped they could be friends without any complications. She knew how he felt and what he wanted, but could she ever give it to him?
Gaz walked over to the lake where Autumn was sitting gathering her thoughts. He sat beside her looking at her concerned face. “Hey, What’s the matter ?’”
“My mom.”
“Don’t tell me. She doesn’t approve.”
“That too. She reckons I’ll get in s**t and I’ll be left on my own to deal with it talk.”
“Wow. We ain’t been together and we certainly ain’t got that far yet. And even if and when we do I’ll promise you I’ll be safe. You are too young to have kids and I don’t want any yet. Trust me I don’t intend to slip up.”
“I.”
“Come on. I’ll drop you off before supper I promise.”
“Okay.”
He took her hand and they walked away heading into the park and sitting down. He placed his arm around her. “So are you okay for next weekend?”
“Yeah.”
“And this one?”
“I have to meet Con.”
“Don’t he give up?”
“We have essays to do.”
“So, I can meet you about seven then?”
“I guess.”
“Good.”
He leaned forward pressing his lips on hers kissing her hungrily. He moved away. Holding her close to him.
8th December
Connor and Autumn pulled themselves up walking away from the river and heading into town to the cinema to meet their friends.
“There they are.”
“Bout time it starts in five.”
“Well let's go.”
They all went in, deciding this time they’d watch a horror they bought their tickets. Their tickets ripped before they went on sitting down in the back row. Autumn squashed between Connor and Daniel feeling uncomfortable as Connor placed his arm over the back of the chair.
The lights came back on they all pulled themselves up walking out of the cinema, Connors's arm hanging lifelessly over Autumn's shoulders.
They watched engrossed in the good bath of the vampire vest. Two hours later the film s[ended and the lights came on momentarily. They all pulled themselves up leaving the cinema.
“Well, that was better than I thought it would be.”
“So we all up for a burger and shake?”
“I am. I’m starving.”
“You always are Jay.”
They laughed. Walking into the burger bar sliding onto the booth ordering the burgers and shakes. Connors's arm is still over Autumn’s shoulders.
“So have you got any plans for tomorrow guys?”
“I for one am chillin.”
“Me too.”
“What about you Autumn, any plans for tomorrow?”
“I’m doing homework at Stenton’s.”
“Good luck with that.”
“Why?”
“We all know Stenton better than you he’s a male whore.”
“And his dad will be there.”
“And you think that will stop him?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Like I said good luck with that.”
“Leave her alone Ash. Stenton has had his warning and we all know what his father is like don't we?”
“True.”
“Besides, he knows better and I told him I and Autumn were meeting after and he best not try anything with her or make her late.”
They laughed.
“So you’ve done all of your homework?”
“Most of it.”
“Well, you best do it unless you want detention.”
“So what will you be doing tomorrow, Ash?”
“Tidying my room.”
“So is a ses pit again?”
“Just the way I like it!”
They all laughed.
“So your mom’s making you tidy it?”
“You all know my mom.”
“That we do.”
The burgers, fries and shakes were placed on the table.
“Cheers.” They all chimed. Digging in as the waitress walked away
“So you’ve been with us three months now are you adjusting still Autumn?’
“No everything’s fine.”
“You had any run-ins?”
“Not really.”
“Surprised, but I guess all the sluts and male whores are staying away or they’ll have Con to deal with aye Con.”
“Yep.”
They all pulled themselves up leaving the burger bar.
“Well, I guess we’ll see you all Monday.”
“You will.”
“Laters.”
“Yeah laters, guys.”
They walked away Connor, Daniel and Autumn continued down the street.
“Well, I best be going Con. I’ll see you Monday.”
“You will.”
They crashed fists.
“Later Red.”
“Yeah, Later Dan.”
He walked away.
“He’s quiet.”
“Is he? I can’t say I noticed.”
“So, is it okay for me to see you tomorrow?”
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
“I didn’t mean to spring myself on you like that but..”
“It’s okay, Con.”
“About three, it’ll give you time to do your homework with Stenton.”
“Yeah, okay.”
“Make sure he gets you back on time.”
“I will.”
He kissed her softly. “Night babe.”
“Night Con.”
