Abigail's POV " Will you be my girlfriend? " He asked, looking at me with eyes filled with adoration and something deeper I can't name, or scared to name, at least not yet. " Of course I will " I said chuckling lightly with my eyes filled with happy tears. Who would have thought that this day would come to reality. He slipped the promise ring into my finger. The ring looked so beautiful. " Thank you for agreeing to be my girlfriend" He said and l smiled happily at him. " Abi " I heard someone called. I looked around but I didn't see whoever was calling me. " Abiiiiiiiiii" I heard again. I feel a gentle tap on my shoulders . I opened my eyes and looked around. Oh. I hissed, realizing it had all been a dream. I've been having similar dreams for a while now. It's either the stranger in my dream was proposing or we were having a meal together. Well I know this is a sign from God and I absolutely trust him. " Good morning" I said groggily to Joy, my housemate and best friend. " Morning girlfriend. Same dream?" She asked. I nodded and I sighed. Yeah I told her about the patterns of my dream and we've been praying together. I got up from the bed and walked into my bathroom. Yes my bathroom. Joy and I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen , a mini dining room and a living room. Each bedroom has its own Bathroom and a wardrobe. I peed, brushed my teeth and took my bath and walked out in a towel. I changed into a blue shirt and black pants. I took my bag, grabbed my black heels and walked to the dining room m I don't normally eat breakfast but ever since I moved in with Joy, she made it her duty to always make breakfast for us. She works from home so her schedule is flexible and that made it easy for her. I sat down opposite her and I said " Let's pray. Almighty God we thank you for your Mercy, Kindness and provision. Bless this meal Lord. Provide for the needy and heal the sick. Amen. " We both said the Amen and we started eating. " Will you be home early today? " Joy asked me. " I'm not sure. Mr Wilson is retiring today and his son is taking over. There's a lot to do. " You're right. Mr Wilson is my boss, the CEO And owner of Wilson's Enterprise m I've been his assistant for 4 years. I got the job shortly after I graduated from the university. God has been good to me. " Oh. I heard his son is hot " Joy said dreamily. " Stop it" I said hitting her harm lightly. " What? it's not bad to admire the handsome handwork of God." She said wiggling her eyebrows at me. I shook my head and laughed. Joy has always been like this, happy, jovial and bright. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a sad and moody girl but I'm more of an introvert while she's an extrovert. We've been friends since our first year at the university and I haven't had any course to regret being her friend. " Thanks for the meal" I said picking up my plate. She rolled her eyes and shook her head in fake anger. She has always asked me to stop telling her thank you but I can't just stop it. I dropped the plate in the kitchen sink and walked out. " Bye " I said walking out of the house. I flagged down a taxi and got in . I told the driver my destination and began to think. My parents aren't financially stable. My dad borrowed a lot of money from people and and gambled with it. It wasn't until he died in a car accident shortly after I got my job that I got to know about the debt. He hadn't been the best father so I wasn't surprised when mom told me about his debts . Mom had always been a full housewife, taking care of my sisters and I . She wanted to get a job after dad's death but I asked her not to. She has a weak heart and she was diagnosed with hypertension three years before dad's death and I didn't want to lose her too. My current job is paying me enough to sort my bills, theirs and dad's debt. I just pray and hope that Ava and Amelia will remain focused and remain the good girls they've always been. Amelia is in her second year in the University, studying nursing while Ava is still in high school. " We're here Ma'am" the driver said, pulling me out of my train of thoughts. I paid him and got out of the taxi. I got into the office building. I greeted the receptionist but as usual, she just looked at me and continued with what she was doing. I don't know why she doesn't like me. I made sure to greet her every morning because the Bible said we should love our enemies. I stepped into the elevator and pressed the 20th floor. The elevator began to go up. I checked the time and it was just 8:50am. The office starts by 9:00am but most staffs like the receptionist and the security men resumes by 8:30am. Ding. The elevator door opens and I stepped out m Thank God I was able to get here early. Mr Wilson is a nice man but he doesn't tolerate laziness and tardiness. I walked into my office and said a short prayer before I started my day. Like I said earlier, I've worked for Mr Wilson for 4 years but I only a little about his personal life. All I know is that he's sixty, has a wife and two kids. I don't know more than that though I've heard his wife mentioned theirs children abroad a few times. I shook my head to get all these thoughts out and I started to organize the files I know my new boss will probably need. Mr Wilson said they'll be coming at 11:00am so I didn't prepare his coffee. I checked the time and it was almost eleven by the time I was done arranging the files. My new boss would soon be here. I was about to step out of my office when my phone rang. I checked the caller and it was Ava. My heart dropped. Ava doesn't call during working hours unless it's important. I picked the call" Hello" I said, silently praying that all will be well. " Abi where are you?" She said shakily. I could fell that she had been crying. " I'm at work. What happened? How's mom?" " Mom Fainted. I called Amelia but the call didn't go through so I had no choice but to call you." " Where are you guys now?" I asked shakily. " Ms Daniels already took us to the hospital. It looks like the doctors are panicking." she said. " Okay. Text me the address of the hospital. I'll be with you shortly " I said and I hung up. I quickly grabbed a note and pen and wrote the reason for my sudden disappearance in it. I dropped it on Mr Wilson's desk and rushed out. I entered the elevator and pressed the bottom floor. " God please let mom be okay" I praying quietly. I could feel the tears in my eyes but I quickly wiped it off. I don't want anyone to see me crying. Ding. The elevator opened and I rushed out. I collided into a wall- no a man. " I'm so sorry" I said and I looked up. I stared into the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. He looked familiar. Suddenly, like a flash I remembered the reason for rushing down. " Excuse me" I said and ran out of the building. Luckily I saw a taxi and rushed in. I checked my phone and gave the driver the address of the hospital and sighed.
