Chapter Thirty31st December 1999, Aberdeen, Scotland Police Sergeant Harry Houston sat at his desk, tapping his pencil on a blank jotter as he stared at the computer screen in front of him. He'd set the screen to show a countdown to the hour of midnight, when the world would celebrate the new millennium, the arrival of the year two thousand. Harry was quite happy to be at his desk that evening. He'd spent two days at Christmas with his parents at home in Ballater, and had enjoyed all the trappings of a typical family festive season.
