Chapter SevenThe woman studiously watched the two boys at play. The puzzles she'd provided for them were almost complete, and she allowed herself a smile. Two years old and yet so clever! She took an intense pride in their achievement in completing the exercise. She hadn't thought them quite ready for such an intellectual challenge, but they'd surprised and delighted her with their display of manual and rational dexterity. She looked around the room, taking in the aura of the peaceful and aesthetic surroundings they'd created for the children. The lack of windows had no effect on the boys, of course, for they'd never seen a window, and therefore had no concept of what one was, or what it was for.
