CHAPTER 8
The meeting was at the office of Watkins & Relford, Sandy’s divorce attorneys. Jack was represented by Steven Clark, an old friend and top-notch family law practitioner.
When Steven had last met with Jack a week prior they had agreed on a collaborative divorce. Jack and Sandy would agree to work out a settlement outside of court that covered the division of their property as well as their respective responsibilities as Maya’s parents. It motivated the lawyers and kept the court from intervening.
Given Sandy’s state of mind, Jack was skeptical this process would work for them. He hoped Sandy would be more likely to reach an agreement quickly and amicably now that Maya knew what was going on.
