CHAPTER 9 It always took Jack awhile to get oriented when awakening in the guest room. Navigating Maya’s little girl stuff in their shared bathroom didn’t help. It wouldn’t be for long, however. His moving out was inevitable. Today, he wanted to escape the house before Sandy got up. The thought of seeing her after the events of the night before was too difficult to even imagine. It was pain better postponed. He did, however, long to see Maya, so he snuck into her room. “Hi, Daddy, is it morning?” she said, both surprised and disoriented by the darkness in the room. “Not quite, sweetheart.
