CHAPTER 10
The weekend days were becoming the most difficult time for the McKay’s. They didn’t know how to act around one another when they were together at the house. Sandy would take Maya to the store. Jack would take her to breakfast and the cleaners. There were no family outings. Jack would play with Maya, and then Sandy would play with Maya. There were no family games except divorcing parents hide-and-seek. Jack and Sandy would avoid each other, and Maya would try to find them and get them together.
“Sandy, this is so ridiculous,” Jack pleaded. “Poor Maya doesn’t know how to act around us anymore. We’ve got to figure something out so she is not uncomfortable in her own house.”
