A run is good for the soul

Stephen Walking through school is so frustrating, the humans have this weird smell when they are all bundled in the halls. I don’t understand why my father insists that I attend a human school, but he says it will help me become a better leader. I watch most of them like little shows, over there by the lockers there is a boy, maybe a freshman, trying to flirt with a very pretty girl who is in her third year. It’s funny how hard he try’s but she just pats him on the head and tells him he’s cute before moving on. Over there by the water fountains are the school jocks ogling the cheerleader pack across from them.  “Sammi” I hear turing around to see the girl Lauren I believe hugging another girl, that must be her. I tilt my head to try and see her but she she’s not facing this way. Her long brown hair is all I can really see, but they scurry off before I can try and move to get a better view. I make it to my first class and can’t help but be distracted. I am 17 and in my senior year here, thank the moon. My father is Alpha of the Starblade pack and insist I be here, but what has me really distracted was that girl from earlier, I know she’s not new here, I don’t always pay attention but I know she’s been here her whole life. I mean most these humans have, but something is weird, why can’t I stop thinking of her.  “Mr. Smith.” I hear the teacher call out snapping my attention back to class. “Do you plan on joining us today or is whatever outside more interesting than our history?” He continues. To be honest anything is better than the human history, it’s nothing but war after war, greed on greed and lust for power, but I guess our kind can be that way too. “My apologies Mr. Douglas, please continue.” I say, he nods and continues on.  The day passes with little to no interest or problems and I decided I want to take a nice long run, or better yet I feel the moon tugging on me to go. I tell my dad who tries to send a guard with me but I protested because he knows I can handle myself. “Please stay away from the human, we don’t need to see another, ‘massive black wolf spotted’ in the news.” My mother says from her place on the couch. I nod, “Don’t worry mom.” I say with a grin before darting out the door and heading to the woods.  I shift almost instantly, the moon is full tonight and is pulling me tonight. “Wonder why I have this feeling.” I think to myself, but shake it off as I continue to run. I run and run and run until I’m on the edge of a thick wood line and a human neighborhood. Why here? I think to myself as I lay and watch, I sniff the air and feel like I need to be here. Not even 10 minutes pass and there on the other side of the road was the girl from school, I finally can get a good look at her. She has her hair up in a side braid, her eyes are a beautiful green. Why is she alone and walking at this hour, it’s dangerous for humans, let alone young girls to be alone especially at night.  No soon do I think that a car slowly approach’s her. I can smell the alcohol from here as I hear them call to her and whistle. She’s smart and keeps walking picking up her pace. The car pulls ahead of her and stops as three men walk out and towards her. My wolf is getting angry as he stands ready to attack. “Calm down Rex, she’s a human don’t go getting us in trouble for a human.” I say to him. “She’s important to us.” Rex reply’s. Why though I think to myself as a cry of pain knocks me back from my thoughts. She had just knees one of them in the balls. I chuckle at that but he recovers quickly and they begin to pull her to the car. I don’t even need to here her cry for help when I leap into action and race over to where they were. Rex growls something fierce a growl I’ve never even heard before. The men, or should I say boys now, run for their car leaving her to fall to the ground. “Mate!” Rex says to me as he is able to really get a sniff of her and as soon as we locked eyes I knew it to be true, but how? I watch her as she watches me, she doesn’t look scared, goddess she is absolutely beautiful why hadn’t I noticed before now is it because she’s human and not of age yet? Questions fill my head as I notice her began to lose consciousness but I run over to her shifting quickly to catch her in my arms not even caring that I’m naked. What do I do now?
