Isaac’s POV My brother and I had been working for hours, the sun had come up for a while now. We looked at all the recent attacks and tried to figure out if there was some sort of pattern. Cohen furiously slammed a folder on his desk and slumped in his chair. “They’re idiotic creatures, Isaac. We’re not going to figure out anything by reading these reports.” Cohen said angrily, he looked exhausted as I probably did as well. “I could have lost my mate last night, Cohen!!” I answered furiously. I felt powerless, I knew the vampire attacks were growing more frequent, I couldn’t help but to be worried about Mila’s safety. “Oh relax you big baby. You’re an alpha male. A lanky vampire is no match for you.” Cohen said in a bored tone. “What if there were more than one? Mila is a human, she can’t fight like we can. We need to terminate the threat. NOW!” I shouted back. Cohen looked at me and rolled his eyes, I glared at him and walked to look out the windows in an attempt to calm my wolf. “I get it, Isaac. I just don’t think they’re actively plotting our demise in any strategic way. I think they’re just acting on impulse solo.” Cohen said calmly. I shook my head, my brother could be such a moron. Vampires don’t live together in a pack like Werewolves do, they typically live alone or with their beloved, which is the same as a mate for us. But Cohen had to see that it was clear that the vampires were now joining together to get rid of us, of our pack. My father had an extreme hatred for their species, he executed hundreds for little to no reason. They obviously want revenge on our family, I can’t believe how naive my brother was being. “So you think that they all just randomly have the same ideas to attack us. You really can’t fathom that they might be working together?” I tried to plead my case. Cohen just sighed and rubbed his hands over his face. “I don’t know what to do, Isaac! We have no choice but to play on the defensive here..it’s not like we have a Celeritas Warrior anymore.” Cohen answered defeated. A Celeritas Warrior was a werewolf that came from a very special bloodline. Thousands of years ago, the warrior god Ares, gave a werewolf the gift of lightning speed and agility in order for him to end the reign of a very cruel vampire king. The king had tortured and murdered thousands of innocent lives, the werewolves of course were created to protect the human kind, and they were gifted with super speed and strength, but the vampires are still faster than we are, and the werewolves were never able to catch the king. Finally, the original Celeritas Warrior was able to catch and defeat the Vampire King and end the decade long m******e. He passed on his gift from generation to generation. A werewolf that came from the Celeritas bloodline is the only type of werewolf to be able to run as fast as a vampire. A few lucky packs have a Celeritas among their warriors, but they are very rare. We were lucky to have one, I had never met him though, he was unfortunately killed a few years ago. Since his passing, the attacks have tripled. I sighed and slumped on the chair across from my brother. I hope Mila was able to have a good night’s rest, she was going to need it to be able to deal with today. “Any advice on how I should tell my human mate that i’m a werewolf ?” I asked my brother with a chuckle. *** Mila’s POV I woke up alone in Isaac’s room, I had dreamt the same dream where i’m staring at a wolf’s reflection in the water, I wonder what it meant? I sat up and noticed that the sun had come up already, I checked my phone and it was already 8 o’clock. Isaac hadn’t returned yet, I wonder if he gave me his bedroom and slept elsewhere. I was just about to text him when I heard a soft knock on the door. I got up and quickly made my way to the door, eager to see Isaac again. I opened the door, but it wasn’t him. It was a tall beautiful blond holding a tray of food. I automatically frowned. Was this girl looking for Isaac? Was she a fling that he had at home? She was smiling widely at me, which only made me frown even more. “Hi Mila! Oh my goodness, you are so gorgeous! I am so excited to finally meet you!” The blond girl squealed enthusiastically. I furrowed my eyebrows at her in confusion, how did she know my name?! “I’m Whitney! I’m Isaac’s brother’s mate!” She said, still smiling widely at me. “Mate?” I asked curiously. She stopped smiling for a second, looking panicked but then smiled again. “It means that we’re married, it’s a term we use here!” She said, I nodded at her and I realized how rudely I was behaving. “It’s nice to meet you Whitney. I’m sorry for how i’m acting, i’m not really a morning person!” I said nervously, I felt my cheeks heating up, I was obviously blushing. “Nonsense! I would have acted the same if not worst if a strange women showed up at my boyfriend’s door!” She said giggling, she walked in and placed the tray on the coffee table and sat down on one of the couches. “He’s uh not my boyfriend..” I said timidly while sitting on the other couch and drooling over the food she had brought. She raised a hand dismissing my comment. “I figured you might be hungry, I do hope you managed to sleep well, after the eventful night you had! Such a shame your date was ruined, Isaac worked so hard to plan it out perfectly for you.” Whitney said as she picked a strawberry from the tray to eat. I smiled at her last comment, obviously Isaac had talked about me and about our date to his brother and to Whitney. I was surprised at how quickly I was falling for him, and how quickly he was obviously falling for me. I couldn’t help but to feel guilty about Tyler, I wasn’t even sure if we were broken up completely. He didn’t want anything to do with me, but I think I still should have another conversation with him. I can’t deny how strongly I feel for Isaac, but there was obviously some sort of secret he was keeping from me, a dangerous one at that. I’m not sure I can deal with any more danger, thoughts of my father’s passing going through my mind..Ugh! Why was my life so confusing! Whitney and I chatted for about an hour, I wanted to know everything about Isaac’s childhood. I giggled at all the embarrassing stories she told me, he probably wouldn’t be too happy with her. “So has Isaac contacted the police?” I asked. Obviously he would have to, but it was self defence..right? The guy didn’t seem to have a weapon though..the police might arrest Isaac..how the hell did he manage to decapitate him?! He also made it seem so normal..what the hell was actually going on here ?! “Umm no..he didn’t call the police. He doesn’t need to..” Whitney said calmly. “What do you mean ‘he doesn’t need to’? He killed someone..but the guy did attack him, i’ll tell them! Is he scared that he’ll get arrested? I mean..he might..and how is he so strong?!” I rambled on nervously. “Whoa whoa! One question at a time! Relax, Mila..Isaac didn’t do anything wrong, he’ll explain everything to you today.” Whitney said gently while getting up and sitting next to me on the couch, she placed her hand on my back to comfort me. “Well, he killed someone! He kinda did do something wrong..” I said as I remembered the lifeless body once more, separated from his head..I started to feel nauseous again. “Oh please..he was already dead. Isaac did him a favour.” Whitney said casually. “What do you mean ‘he was already dead’?” I asked curiously. Just then Isaac came in the room and looked at us in shock. “Whitney!!” Isaac shouted at her. Alright..someone had to tell me what the f**k is going on here!
