Kaira’s eyes flickered to another screen as three more red indicators suddenly flared to life, each flashing insistently. Dammit! Did that change what she had to do? Would Tarkus even know about those alerts from down in engineering? Did they mean she should do something different than he’d said? She had no idea. Should she go and ask him? But what if the main control went green while she was gone? She sat there, uncertain about what to do, and half convinced she should head for the engine room.
