Kaira woke with a start, cursing the pounding pain in her head. She’d rolled over in her sleep onto the lump on her temple, a move she instantly regretted.
It took several minutes for the pain to subside, after which she lay there in the near dark wanting to fall asleep again. Her bladder had other ideas. She forced herself up and into the bathroom.
Soon enough she was climbing back into bed, but this time she found falling asleep much harder. She kept flashing back to being in the room with Baxter, Faresh and who she’d thought was Drasp. Shivering at what might have happened if Tarkus hadn't found her.
