She made it to the next transition, and their time together was as brief as she’d expected. More time passed, with more transitions. Time between transitions soon settled into a routine. No matter how hard she tried, Kaira hardly ever saw Tarkus while they were cruising through jump space. Very occasionally she would run into him in the kitchen area, but he never stayed for long and was far from talkative. She wondered whether he always spent so much time in his cabin, or if it was because she was on board that he chose to.
