14 Kaira woke with plenty of time before they reached the station. She climbed out of the still warm bath, dried herself, then got dressed. With that done she decided to head back upstairs and get something to eat. She wasn’t surprised to find the flight deck closed, locked when she tried the door, and the kitchen empty. Not surprised, but frustrated. And lonely. She dug through the cupboards and came across more packs of the pastries she’d had the day before. She took one out and put it on a plate well out of reach while she made her coffee, trying to avoid the temptation to snack on it straight away. When the coffee was ready she took it and the pastry over to the sofa where she sat and worked through both in short order. She definitely felt more human once she’d finished, but
