The wait for Tarkus seemed to go on forever. Finally Kaira spotted him walking through the hangar. As he caught sight of her he scowled and changed direction toward where she stood. Kaira started to worry. Had he changed his mind? Was he going to refuse to take her? As he drew close, the sour expression remained on his face. “I still don’t like having passengers!” he said. “Come on, get on board.” She closed her eyes for a moment, thankful her fears had come to nothing, then followed him to the ship. He unlocked the airlock leading into the hold and they both walked in. As soon as they were through he closed it again. “Already got all the cargo I needed,” he said. “We can get going immediately. Oh, you might need this.” He slipped the bag he’d been carrying off his shoulder
