Audrey
The Wedding I sat down on a leathered stool playing mindlessly with a silver bracelet as the hairstylist braided my thick hair for the flowerwreath to be placed upon its honey gold crown. I wore an off the shoulder Thin strapped silk ivory gown with flowing strips of shear tulle pieces that constituted a short train. I looked at the ornate mirror that I sat in front of and observed my younger twin sisters at the side; identical and Twelve years of age, taking selfies with my iphone wearing the dusty pink selkie puff dresses, that had been designed as bridesmaids dresses. The videographer was in the background capturing the activities of the morning as I got ready and the moments that would come during and after my bonding ceremony and later on this evening, as I would eventually take my marriage vows . Bonding ceremonies always took place immediately a child of any of the wolf clans became of age and finally shifted to their full form. It was a sign that the child had gained maturity and was ready to start mating. My older brother; Joshua had already been bonded to an omega from the whitestone tribe immediately he clocked the age of 15. This was done to prevent unbounded wolves from becoming too feral because of the hormonal changes that occurred during puberty. Bonding required binding the two chosen mates; linking them telepathically and creating a constant conduit of power between the couple, at the back of their minds, a presence that would constantly remind them to focus and stay as a point for they both to always be in control. My brother and his mate, though bonded, were not officially married yet. This was due to them both not getting along and having stark differences of opinions. True mates were rare and most matches did end up as clashes in personalities. The distance had not helped as they both attended different universities. Joshua, although graduated a few months ago, his future spouse was still in school was due to be finished in few months. The elders from the packs would determine the best time for their official joining when it was appropriate.  Bonding was also necessary in keeping the peace among the packs and prevented war. It was a law that had been centuries ago but enforced by the trimulative that is symbolized by The Valknut; a norse badge meaning strength in unity. A badge, all the three Alpha leaders that controlled the unified territory; that spanned the north American canadian border to the mountains of Alaska, wore. The three main packs formed an alliance between themselves as a way to share resources and foster unity. They are the whitestone grey wolf pack, the riverstone valley wolf pack and the rocky mountain brownstone wolves. My name was Cailey Audery Mitchel. A member of the formidable Brownstone Pack and my father, Chet Mitchel was the Alpha. The main idea of the trimulative had been to balance the power between the three powerful packs that had fought for centuries. Since the days that boats delivered European colonizers to the lands of the Redwolf, invading their lands and bringing with them stranger and more vicious species of the wolf. The wolf packs fought hard for survival amidst uneasy bouts of truces, that broke very frequently. Peace was hard fought with decades and decades of war and hundreds of thousands of lives lost. Their territories decimated by the human population and the ever present fear of being discovered by the human race, forced the pack leaders to form a sacred agreement. Smaller weaker packs would be dissolved onto the 3 main larger packs and form their own minor clans with leadership of those being passed down the bloodlines of the most worthy. They would cooperate among themselves each contributing their own quota. Together they built communities and eventually a town, located in the backwoods of the northern state of montana. The riverstone pack contributed financially with their businesses and economical pull. The whitestone clan contributed agriculturally and industrially and while my pack; the brownstone were the brawn. We were bigger is size and stronger than other two packs combined. Our boys trained right from the age of young pups to hunt, gather and fight. Our characteristic ferociousness were legendary as we prided ourselves of being warriors. We fought till the death and protected our families with honour. The honour my father had defended when he had ascended the throne as the Alpha king of Brownstone after killing the previous occupant. Linus had been a tyrant, with his pride he had believed himself superior to the two other Alpha kings and then started a bloody civil war, forcefully trying to seize power from those he viewed weaker. A civil war that cost several lives, one of which was the life of my mothe. In an enormous rage, my father challenged linus for leadership and won in a bloody fight. With his death, the wars ended, peace was brokered and the packs agreed to have their children intermarry from each pack and their minor clans. That was 15 years ago. I was 2 years old then. Peace has reigned ever since. We lived in Polca, USA. A small town Pocketed in the state of Montana State. It had scenic historic communities that had stood the test of time.  The town was made up of old brick buildings that gave visitors a sense of the Old West. It had become modernized overtime, having the usual attractions of brand chain coffee shops, apartment buildings, office complexes and the usual crime wave. Polca also boasted of the great outdoors. Miles of mountain ranges, dense forests and trout-filled rivers. Between its wide-open spaces and friendly inhabitants, it made for a beautiful summer getaway and turned visitors into long-term residents. It also had an unforgiving brutal winter only the strongest could survive.  The humans had incorporated nicely into our communities and mostly never ventured far into the mountains or forests where wolf hunting grounds laid. We all lived in relative peace in our charming town. From my periphery. I spotted my grandmother, austere with her white hair pulled up in a neat bun, as she entered the dressing room. Sighting my sisters fooling around, while they continue taking pictures of themselves, she sniffed and gave an unimpressed grunt. They ignore her. Turning her back to them, she smiles as she walks towards me, the lines of her face becoming more pronounced. Picking up the wreath, she signals for my hair stylist to move away while she places it on my head. Looking through the mirror, I see twin pools of sadness reflected in her eyes, as she sees the resemblance I shared with my mother. The same hair and facial structure "You're too radiant for worlds. A moon flower so exquisite and rare. I'm so proud of the journey you have undertaken to become a woman and I'm excited for the path you will take, forging forward". She finishes with a hug, telling me how proud she was of me. She tells me how I'd looked just like my mother on her own bonding day. My skin around my eyes tightened as I thought of how strained the relations were between my father and grandmother. She hated him and blamed her death on the role he played in her daughter's demise. A relationship that had definitely not improved, after he remarried the mother of the twins, the sister of the man he had killed, a year later.
