CHAPTER 13

THE CAPTURE

Gladys and mark were dragged out as they had been wiped countlessly.

"What is your mission here?......speak now or you'll be fed to the animals and your corpse would be returned to your parents "the priestess snapped.

"The prisoner......we....we wanted to free him" mark blunted as he cried

"What impetus!....what audacity do you both have to sneak into a sacred place to release a prisoner? Are they still more of you?"she asked...

"Ye......"mark was about to reply when he was interrupted by Gladys

"No..... there's no one else here it's just us"she said as she looked at mark.

"You both will be severely punished for this disspeakable act of yours....... guards take them away "the priestess ordered as they were both dragged to their feet.

We didn't stop running until we had made sure we were out of the building but we weren't successful.

In the distance I sighted men with weapons running towards us.

"Oh God..... they're coming, come on let's take this path"crystal said as she took the lead with us following.

We got to a spot as adebayo was suddenly grabbed by the neck as a knife was pointed at him,

I ran towards saving him as I heard his scream when a knife flung towards me and pierced my back I had been stabbed.

I screamed in pain as I fell to ground

"Nooooooooooooo...."crystal screamed as she was in shock.

She raised her hands up in anger as the men began to float in the air, she flopped them away as they smashed their heads against woods and metals.

She began to sing the siren song again as the other guards stood frozen, she had tears in her eyes as she looked at the men and they began to scream as they held their ears.

The priestess heard the siren song again as she was furious she turned to Gladys and mark.

"You brought an abomination to my space ....a mermaid!"she yelled exasperatedly.

She rushes immediately as she followed the rhythm, she got to crystal stand as she was trying to help abeo up .

"How dare you penetrate my boundary mermaid"the priestess snapped.

"The boy is innocent he did nothing to deserve this sort of punishment, why would you do this to your kind? He is just a human like you."crystal said.

"Abomination of any kind in this town is never overlooked, you and every of your kind brought this upon him"the priestess counted.

"Well you'll have to get through me before getting to him"crystal said as she looked at her.

"I wouldn't have a problem with that..... I'd wish you never made the decision "the priestess altered.

Caroline went to Mimi as she had a conversation with her.

"You have to take me to where crystal is.......you said it yourself that she's in danger"Caroline said.

"But it seems you ain't interested in saving her, that's why your stupid friend had to lash my face with hot slaps "mimi blurted out.

"Please just forget it and take me to her, I apologize on her behalf "Caroline said.

"Well I can't give the assurance she's still alive because it's very obvious she won't like that building with what she wants"mimi said.

They both left to look for crystal, Lilian also decided to go with them.

I felt extreme pain at my back as I felt the knife dangling with blood gushing out of its pierce.

Crystal raised her hands as a full wave forced some guards away and landed them on the ground, Caroline was about to sing the siren song when the priestess whispered as she looks at her.

Immediately she felt a seize in her voice as the song stopped instantly a guard rushes to her as he smashed a rod on her head she fell on the floor immediately.

I was terrified seeing crystal on the ground bleeding from her head, I feared for the worst......she could be dead.

" Take all of them away and make the announcement for their conviction..... they'll all die tonight" the priestess ordered as she stormed away.

We were grabbed and pulled away as we are shocked at the priestess final statement, this means that night was going to be our last to live.

Mimi and others are still trying to track crystal

"If anything bad happens to her you know so we'll that the queen mother will never forgive you"Mimi said.

"Instead of making things worse can we just concentrate on finding crystal please"Lilian said.

Caroline burst out in tears as she ran along, Lilian ran after her.

"Look at them...bunch of weaklings " Mimi said as she was irritated.

We were thrown into the dungeon as I crawled towards crystal, she didn't seem to be breathing.

"Is she dead?" Gladys asked.

" I don't know" I replied with tears gathered in my eyes. " You guys shouldn't have risked your lives to save me, I can't imagine you all dying alongside me."abeo cried as he held crystal head up.

"Let's get this out of you first" adebayo said as he points at the knife on abeo's back.

He pulled it out as I screamed in pain.
