THIRD PERSON'S POV
While on the way, an argument erupted, but Anika was done with the brief discussion they were just having; she didn't want to spoil the mood in any way."Anika," Derrick started, "No, Did you do this to your parents too? Maybe all humans are airheads and should not comprehend life? Did you always shut them out?" Anika asked jokingly, a goofy look pasted on her face.
Obviously. She just had to open her big fat mouth. But she was not going to back down now, too late. She dug her nails into her palm and bit her lips, her eyes still goofy, but she refused to budge.
"Anika." Steph's voice was strict this time. "Anika, hear us out." She started, "No, I'm done hearing you out. You treat me like a seven-year-old all the time, and I take it all in good strides, but don't take me for a fool; you both were supposed to be my best people, I need some space." She spat out, her voice having the quiver she desperately tried to hide, and stormed off.
She didn't want to see the hurt in her friend's eyes. She couldn't; she could already smell it in the air; she shouldn't have brought up Derrick's parents that way, not as a way to get him, even as a joke.
"Let her be, you know how she gets when she is like this." She could hear Derrick's weary sigh as she stormed out of the confinement, as one of the air hostesses whispered to him.
Maybe she would have stopped. Perhaps she had been too harsh, Derrick was just stressed out, and he didn't lash out. Maybe.
She got to what was her room and closed it with a loud bang. It was either all out or nothing. When she closed the door, her body pressed down against the door, and she sank to the floor, her shoulders quaking. Hot tears rushed down her face, and soft sobs escaped her lips.
A knock came after a few minutes, and she knew it was Derrick. "Go away." She sobbed. Another knock ensued, but she barked angrily, "Go away."
"My dear, I know you didn't mean what you said, and I know you are really pissed, I'd be too, but you will know that we do it for your good."
This caused Anika to scoff bitterly regardless of her tears. They really did treat her like a child. "Steph is worried; you didn't eat much off your plate; the air hostesses will microwave it and send it up for you."
Quiet. This was usually the time he would wait till she opened up, and she would cry, and he would console her, but she refused to be touched by this good gesture and open up.
For how many minutes? She didn't know but heard his footsteps shuffle slowly away. Ha, he had to get away, after all. Deep down she wished for him to stay.
She scrambled up to her bed and shut her eyes. She will reconcile with him tomorrow. The clouds hitting Anika's window were the first thing she noticed when she woke up.
She stretched her body and snuggled back into her duvet; this had now been like a routine these days. She looked at her bedside alarm clock.
What kind of time is that?! Ava woke up from her bed and reached out for her phone. Today was her vacation day, and they were already on air, heading there, in Derrick's private jet; how could she not be a little grateful?
She swiped her phone to meet a group of tons of comments from her fans on f*******:, i********:, and w******p, as well as her friends, acquaintances, and random strangers.
She replied to the ones she felt like answering and clicked the screen shut. She walked into her bathroom and cleaned up.
Derrick was probably really not happy with her for him to be this silent. She exited the bathroom, hoping to feel refreshed, but her chest felt tight. As the minutes rolled by, she couldn't hold a grudge with them anymore.
Sigh. She picked up her phone, struck a sexy pose for the camera in her bathrobe, and posted it on her f*******: stories with the inscription; "Hot as Always," even though there was nothing hot about how she felt.
Urghh! She changed into a dress shirt and made her way out of her room. It's time to make peace with the sulking folks, so she thought.
Ahhh, she remembered how she was meant to be away in the Maldives this morning. She was grateful he did have a change of mind? Ha! Then, the frizz razz worked either way. She closed the door behind her and made for the stairs, as they made their way out of the jet.
The Bahamas was tranquil; it took her some time to notice so much. It was big and not so packed with just a few things, but not so empty.
'Where are the houses I heard about?' She wondered as she descended from the stairs. Urghh, this day was kicking off so nicely for a memorable day, she thought to herself.
"Derrick?" She called out. "Steph!" She tried again. He was already down working with his system in the lounge; she could see him; he wasn't waiting and staring like she was. Steph was with him. Anika was really ready to give them a piece of her mind for not dropping a nice comment early on.
Humph."Derrick?" She called as she set her foot on the last step. "Hey?" She called out, really getting annoyed at them.
"If this was their only way of surprising her, they were doing a really wack job at it, " she concluded. She walked into the lounge, “Oh for heaven's sake, where is everyone? I've sear—" Anika froze.
Her mouth parted, and her legs staggered back in utter shock; her eyes dilated, and her breath hitched. It was green everywhere. And even greener inside. And water bodies. Serenity.
A relieving hush escaped her lungs as she stumbled back. Some men in conspicuous black uniforms stood around; she supposed they were bodyguards, as this was one of the most visited sites in the Bahamas.
It was green all over the lounge. Anika felt surges of excitement move in her belly. She really wanted to let out a shout of excitement, but the surprise that gripped her held on so tight to her ankle, it didn't seem like it would let go anytime soon.
