~Training with the Omega~

Chapter 16: Next morning nobody had to wake me up. I couldn't sleep. I even had time to bathe in the river without company and come back into my tent. I sat on my mattress thinking how today's training was going to go. I don't understand why I was overthinking so much or why I was this worried. I've had multiple training sessions, why is this one any different? Why am I so nervous? "Hey! Good morning." Willie greets entering my tent. "I didn't hear much shuffling so I presumed you were decent enough. I didn't realize you were completely ready though. So much for your human alarm clock this morning, right?" He tries to joke, but is only met with my silence. "Are you okay?" He questions. "Hmm?" I hum in confusion. "Are you okay?" He repeats. I bite my thumb nail and hum a yes. "Whisper?" He calls. I look up to meet his light brown eyes. "What's up with you?" He questions and sits next to me. "Just thinking." I retort. "Hey." He calls for my attention again. I look at him. "You're going to be fine. Today's training will be fine." He assures. I slowly nod. He smiles and wraps me into a tight hug. Let's hope so, I pray internally. ~*~ Emmett had sent someone from the pack to tell me to meet him at the river. To calm my nerves I run there. Arriving at my destination, I see him watching the river near the shoreline. I watch him for a few seconds as I catch my breath. Once I feel I am well composed I approach the Omega. He turns around to meet my gaze. His stare brings shivers to my entire body. "Morning." He greets. "Morning." I reply softly. "I've requested that nobody comes here until our session is over. We have this place all to ourselves this morning." He explains. "Great." I reply trying to sound clam and casual. "Self-control. Define it." He instructs. I pause to think, but his piercing gaze pressures me to speak faster than expected. "Having control over yourself." I reply unsure of myself. "Elaborate." He orders pacing back and forth. "The ability to control yourself. Like your emotions, feelings, behaviors. Um how you react to things maybe.." I try to further explain watching his movements. Why is he pacing back and forth like that? He stops pacing and stares at me. "Are you looking for my approval while you speak?" He questions. "Yes." I answer truthfully. His face does not reveal any specific emotion as he rips his gaze away from mine and presumes to pacing. "Self-control is the ability to control oneself as you stated. In particular, one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations". He confirms. "Have you ever been in a difficult situation?" He questions. I chuckle. "Hasn't everyone?" I ask. "Don't answer in the form of a question. It's a yes or no question, answer directly." He demands. His voice is steady, firm, and free of any emotion. I clear my throat feeling a bit embarrassed but proceed to answer the question, "Yes." He nods. I watch as he continues to pace back and forth. "Do you recall ever making clear and wise decisions whilst in these difficult situations?" He questions. "No." I answer. "Understandable. Many times our judgement is clouded and our emotions want to steer us in a direction that perhaps is not the best one during difficult situations. It is important that you learn to make the right decisions no matter how difficult the situation, especially now that you have unlocked such a great power." He explains. "Now." He begins stopping in his tracks causing my stomach to twist in a funny way. "I'm going to ask you some questions and you are going to answer them quickly and truthfully." He explains taking some steps towards me. My heart skips a few beats and my body tenses up as the Omega invades my personal space and peers into my eyes. My hazel eyes fall to the ground not tolerating this foreign feeling rushing through me. "Look into my eyes." He orders. Taking a long deep breath I obey his order, ignoring the loud pounding of my heart against my chest. "Water or juice?" "Water." "Outdoors or indoors?" "Outdoors." "Art or sports?" "Sports." "River or beach." "River." "If a stranger asks you to let them borrow your phone would you do it, yes or no?" "No." "If a burglar is trying to steal an elder's purse would you interfere?" "Yes." "If a person is getting beat up, would you interfere?" "Yes." "If you had the choice of saving a young boy's life or an elderly couple lives, which life or lives would you choose?" "The young boy's life." "If you had to reveal all your deepest secrets to the public in order to save a life, would you do it?" "Yes." He steps back allowing me more space. I sigh feeling a bit overwhelmed from all the questions. He examines me. "Do you think I am judging your choices?" He questions. I nod. "Answer with words." He orders loudly. "Yes", I reply with a shaky voice. "How do you feel?" He questions. "Overwhelmed." I answer. "Very well." He states. "I want you to climb that tree." He points. I follow his finger and examine the tall tree he wants me to climb. "Now!" He shouts. I jump at the boom of his sudden change in tone, but run towards the tree and proceed with his orders. I struggle at first, but manage to climb the tree successfully. "Great. Lift one leg up and count to sixty seconds." He demands. "What? I'm going to fall." I protest. "Lift one leg up and count to seventy seconds now." He orders. I let out a huff and attempt to lift my leg. My body begins to wobble and I quickly put my leg down to find better balance. "I can't do this! I'm going to fall." I shout. "Eighty seconds!" He shouts back. I begin to feel angry. After a few seconds I try again. Same result. I try again. Same result. I try again and maintain a successful position for 10 seconds then begin to wobble again. Trying again, I succeed for 15 seconds then fail. 30 seconds, this time I not only fail, but fall off the tree. A loud shriek escapes my lips as my body hits the ground. I groan in pain as I feel multiple splinters piercing into my skin. I truly did not know what was worse, the pain from falling or the fact that the Omega had watched me fall. "Get up." He orders emotionless. I offer him a death glare. "Can I get a minute?" I ask. "No. Get up. Nothing happened." He dismisses. "I just fell!" I spit. "Get up." He growls. I get up without dusting myself off and climb the tree again. 15 seconds. Fail. 30 seconds. Fail. 15 seconds. Fail. 40 seconds. Fail. One minute. Fail. One minute and 20 seconds. Success. I smile to myself. "Get down." He orders. My smile fades and is replaced with annoyance. Not even my track team coach was this bad and annoying. "One more thing." He announces as I climb down. I look at him with a confused expression plastered on my face. "Do you know yourself?" He questions walking towards me and invading my personal space yet again. I am taken aback by the question, but answer with confidence. "Yes." I answer. "Who are you?" He insists. "Whisper." I plainly respond. "Whisper...?" He pushes. "Whisper Armstrong." I state my full name. "Is that it? Nothing else you identify yourself with? Just your name: Whisper Armstrong?" He presses. "Uh no." I reply growing nervous. So much for that confidence. "So fill in the blanks for me. Who are you?" He insists. "I'm a runner. A young woman." I grow silent before I can think of anything else. "A runner and a female named Whisper Armstrong." He repeats pacing slowly around me. "Sounds pretty dull. Mysterious. Is that your intention, to be mysterious?" He questions. "No", I answer. "So that's who you are?" He questions. I nod but quickly halt and reply with a yes. His next action throws me completely off. He begins to laugh. Uncontrollably. I stare at him in shock. A minute passes. Then two, then three. What feels like five minutes passes by and he is still laughing. I begin to shift uncomfortably due to his unnecessary mockery. I clench my jaw then unclench to try and shake off my growing annoyance. "Are you done?" I ask. He laughs harder. "Hello!?" I demand, my annoyance slowly turning into rage. His strong muscles shake from laughter. "You know what? I'm leaving!" I give up and begin to storm off. His hand circles around my wrist before I could get very far. I gasp at the sudden skin contact. "A few things you should know about self-control...", he begins to say slowly turning me around so I can face him. Our eyes meet and my insides start to perform back flips. "It requires you to master balance, calmness, determination, willpower, and confidence". He teaches. The tasks he has made me do start to make more sense. "You've worked on your balance and determination. You've worked on listening and responding with your words. Lastly, I've noticed that running and bathing naked in this very river makes you feel calm, which is very important; to achieve calmness that is". He states. The sound of the word naked alerts my entire body and I snatch my arm away. "What's wrong?" He questions. "I-i nothing, nothing." I stumble with my words feeling my cheeks grow hot. He smirks. "Does the fact that I've seen you completely nude bother you?" He questions tilting his head. I shake my head furiously looking down at the ground. I can't believe we are having this conversation. I can't believe he saw me! His thumb lifts my chin up and my body starts to tingle. "Answer with words Whisper." He whispers in a rather seductive tone. My eyebrows furrow in confusion and I back away. "Please stop." I ask. He smiles. That smile...it can make you melt. "Does my touch make you nervous Whisper?" He questions. My heart pounds loudly within my chest as my mind begins to cloud with many thoughts. Too many thoughts to handle. Too many for me to focus. "Huh?" "Does it?" He insists stepping closer to me. I begin to breathe heavily and back away from him until I am pressed against a tree. My eyes close shut. I feel his fingers running up and down my arm. "Can you not do that?" I struggle to ask. "I don't know, can I?" He challenges. "Open your eyes." He suggests. I start to grow anxious and tightly grip the tree behind me. I can't even breathe! Wait a minute? Who am I? I would never get like this when I was with Steve, and Steve was my boyfriend! The old me would never allow a male so much power over me. I would never allow myself to feel this useless and highly suggestive to the other person's wants in a situation like this. "I said stop." I repeat firmly pushing him away. He glares at me seriously. I try not to feel as intimidated. "You see?" He smiles. Huh? "That's called willpower." He answers my doubts. "You were able to restrain your impulses of wanting to kiss me." He adds. I snort. "Please don't get ahead of yourself." I roll my eyes at him. "Whisper, I'm the teacher. I can tell my touch and the lack of distance makes you feel nervous." He points out. "Incase you didn't know, I don't like when people invade my personal bubble." I correct him. "Right." He retorts with a smile on his face unconvinced. He should smile more often... "The ceremony will be in a week from now. It can be a bit intense for a half-breed to go through with it. We need to continue training to prepare your mind for it." He informs me. I nod growing worried. "Remember answer with words." He points a finger at me. "Right." I reply. "You're dismissed." He announces and begins to remove his shirt while walking towards the river. "Do you think I'm ready!?" I blurt out. He halts and slowly turns around. "The fact that you even asked me that question tells me you still need to work on your self-control. Self-control requires confidence and determination. You constantly seek for other people's approval. You shrink under pressure. You doubt your answers and beliefs. Hell! You get a mental breakdown when you even think about removing your clothes to get in the river with the rest of the pack. Last time I checked what you have, every other female in this pack has, and their parts are probably even bigger. Why hide it? Why be so insecure? Stop and maybe you'll be ready for next week, but as of now, no you're not ready." He replies bluntly.
