The Mitchells
Nellie's mom never wanted to leave Joplin. Today she's a twenty-five minute drive away in Carthage. Though Nellie knows how lucky her mom was to find housing, she misses not having her a mile and a half away. She used to drive by her house every day. The little dog, who survived a tornado, succumbed to a back injury just two weeks after the move. Now her mother lives in a strange city without her family, and no dog.
In spite of the bad things, Nellie's life is good. She tries not to dwell on the hard stuff and just keeps going. Her house is okay and she likes to
