Prologue
After long days of travelling overseas, we finally found a place that will finally put the crew on their feet for a while. Huge storms came out of nowhere with waves taller than this iron ship. The waves were so rough it began to put the ship off course. Lightning cracked through the sky and the thunder that followed shook the entire ship. I’ve never seen a storm like this before in my entire life. It was almost like something was telling us to go back, as if there’s something hiding beyond this sea of storms.
“Sir!” The man turned around trying to find the direction the voice came from. “The captain is looking for you, he needs to show you something.”
The man ran to the command center as fast as he could. I was soaked from head to toe, and going up the stairs was more of a challenge than ever. When I burst into the room, the captain began,” Sir, those waves out there are throwing us off course, we can’t beat these waves. If we try, the ship will flip over and we’ll be done for.”
“What is the analysis of the storm?” I asked.
“It’s a hurricane, the biggest this crew has ever seen.”
“If it’s a hurricane, then there’s an eye, head for the eye of the storm!” the man said with a little frustration in his voice.
“That’s the problem, sir, we can’t locate the eye,” the man said with a hint of guilt in his voice. Right after he stated this tragic news, something hit the ship, really hard. The ship actually toppled to the left. Many of the crewmen fell over and fought to regain their balance. Whatever it was, that definitely wasn’t a wave. “Report!”
“Sir, there is a huge creature outside,” a girl replied.
“What’s it doing?!”
“It’s circling the vess- brace for impact!” shouted the girl. The crew quickly found something to hold onto before another hit.
“I thought you said it was circling the ship!”
“It is sir, I don’t think our sensors are picking up there is a whole group of them,” she quickly responded. A man ran into the room, and said,” We lost most of the men on deck.”
“What?! How is that possible?” A tune began to play as he asked. Its melody is sweet and pure. The commander couldn’t help but walk outside the door and onto the deck. He didn’t care that the deck was slippery, and if he fell, he would instantly get back up and continue walking. When he reached the railing of the deck, a huge serpent-like creature emerged from the water, and suddenly the effect of its melody grew stronger. It opened its mouth wide open waiting for its prey to walk right into its mouth. But before the man could step into its mouth, the girl ran out and shot a burst of magic at it. The man snapped out of his trance and hurriedly backed away from the rail. “What the hell!” he shouted as he saw what was in front of him.
It screeched and began to wrap its body around the vessel and began to squeeze. While it was attempting to squeeze the ship, several more of the same creature, but smaller, emerged and landed on the ship. And began to search for prey. The man finally turned to the girl and said,” Head up to the command center and fire on all the creatures on deck.”
The girl ran up to the room and told everyone what to do. The creature that wrapped its body around the ship was killed first. They killed most of the creatures with their magic weapons. There was one left, and it was barely alive. Its scarlet gaze pierced through the darkness of the storm. It looked at the man with hunger for vengeance. And before he could shoot to kill, the creature lurched back and fell into the ocean. The man ran back to the command center and began to bark out new orders,” Continue on course, we need to get out of this storm to make repairs. And if you see another one of those creatures, fire at will.”
