And the attorney representing Lindsey (Social Guardianship's side) is hired by Kaden. He is one of the best lawyers in the country. Mr. Matthews is sentenced to 11 years in prison for the physical and s****l a***e of a child. As soon as the judgement is heard, it enters into legal force. Mr. Matthews is being handcuffed and taken away from the courtroom. He is yelling. MR. MATTHEWS You are making a big mistake! I never touched her! It's all a big lie! People start leaving the courtroom. Kaden approaches the lawyer. KADEN You did a great job. Congratulations! THE ATTORNEY Thank you, Mr. Elmer. KADEN No, thank You! You've just saved a life here! THE ATTORNEY Anytime you need me, just let me know, Mr. Elmer. I'm always at your service. After shaking hands the attorney leaves the courtroom, too. At this moment Bree is talking to Lindsey's mother. Lindsey is with them, too. Kaden is watching her from a distance. 40. BREE Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else, okay? Anytime. I'll always be there for Lindsey. LINDSEY'S MOTHER Thank you so much, Ms.Dane. You are very kind to us. After they thank Bree, they leave, too. Now Bree is finally alone. Kaden slowly approaches her. Bree notices him and turns to him smiling happily. Kaden smiles back at her. BREE I don't know how to thank you. KADEN You don't have to thank me. That scum had to be jailed for what he did. BREE But still, thank you for not remaining indifferent. Kaden just smiles. KADEN Are you going home now? Do you need a ride? BREE Oh no. I'm good. I will go with the principal. I have some work at school I have to finish. KADEN Okay. BREE Okay then. See you. KADEN See you, Bree. WEEKEND. THE CARE HOME: Bree volunteers here every weekend. Today she is here again. But when she arrives, she sees Kaden there. Today he is volunteering here, too! She sees how he is entertaining the elderly people there. When she arrives Kaden sees her, too. He's been waiting for her. So he comes up to her. 41. KADEN (CONT'D) Hi. BREE Hi. Kaden looks around. He looks happy. But he can't find the words to speak to Bree. BREE (CONT'D) I didn't know you did volunteer work, too. (pause) (with a smile) Here. KADEN Yeah. Just started. Inspired by you. Olivia told me about the place. I like it. I'm actually not a bad guy, Bree. BREE (smiles) You don't have to prove yourself anymore. I already know that you are not a bad guy. Kaden smiles, too, then looks down. And they spend the whole day working in the care home, helping and entertaining the tenants. The elderly people like Kaden. We see Mr. Edison. His shoe laces have become untied and he is trying to tie them again. But his hands are shaking and his efforts to tie them are not successful. Kaden sees it and immediately comes to help him tie his laces. KADEN Let me help you. He kneels down in front of the old man and starts tying his shoelaces. And when he's done he raises his head and looks at Mr. Edison. KADEN (CONT'D) Here you are. And as soon as he sees the old man's face, he recognizes him. He remembers that night in the pub where he saw him with Bree. And once again he realizes how wrongly he had misjudged Bree. He stands up. MR. EDISON Oh, thank you, young man. 42. At this moment Bree comes up to them. BREE (to Kaden) Oh, I see you have met our Mr. Edison. (then to Mr. Edison) How are you today, Mr. Edison? MR. EDISON I'm fine, sweetheart. As always. Then Mr. Edison bends over. MR. EDISON (CONT'D) (in a low voice, to Bree) Have you brought me whiskey? BREE (laughs) Oh Mr. Edison, you never give up. AFTER A WHILE. THE CARE HOME: We see an old woman in a wheelchair. Her name is Mrs. Fylan. Bree is walking with her. Kaden is walking with them, too. MRS. FYLAN Bree, my dear, I didn't know you had such a handsome boyfriend. Bree's cheeks turn red. She is shy. Kaden smiles. He likes the woman's words. BREE No, Mrs. Fylan. We are just... We just know each other... And she feels so uneasy and shy that she leaves them pretending that she has to help another elderly tenant nearby. Kaden stays with Mrs. Fylan. MRS. FYLAN (whispers to Kaden) She likes you. KADEN You think so? MRS. FYLAN I'm sure, sweetheart. Trust me, she likes you. 43. Kaden looks at Bree and smiles. He is starting to feel good about the whole situation. EVENING. THE CARE HOME: The day is almost over. Bree is getting ready to go home. And when she starts walking towards the gates, Kaden runs up to her from behind. KADEN Bree! Bree stops to wait for him. Kaden reaches her. KADEN (CONT'D) Do you need a ride? I can drive you home. You're on my way. BREE No, thank you. I want to take a little walk. KADEN Do you mind if I join you? BREE (after thinking a little bit) No. Why not? You can join me. And they start walking. KADEN How about a cup of coffee? BREE Sure. (after a pause) Can I choose the place where we have it? KADEN Sure. Anywhere you want. BREE There's a very good coffee place near here. I'd say it has the best coffee in town. I'm sure you haven't tried that kind of coffee yet. KADEN Okay, now I'm very intrigued. 44. After a little walk Bree stops and points the direction where we see a coffee truck. BREE There it is. KADEN (looks at the truck) There? BREE Yeah. There. Don't be deceived by the appearance. That man over there makes the best coffee in this city. KADEN Okay then. I trust your words. Sooo... Where will we drink it? BREE We can drink it while walking. KADEN Okay. I like the idea. Then I'll go there and get our coffee. BREE Okay. I'll wait for you here. Kaden walks towards the truck to get coffee. At this moment Bree notices a guy from a distance. We see him, too. She knows him. And it is obvious she is not happy to see him. She immediately turns her face away so he wouldn't see her. But unfortunately the guy has already seen her and he is striding toward her with an arrogant smile on his face. Now Bree can't avoid him. It is BRYAN, her ex-boyfriend. BRYAN Hello, Bree. BREE (with a forced smile on her face) Hello, Bryan. BRYAN What are you doing here? Oh, don't tell me. Some volunteer work again? Bree says nothing. At this moment, Kaden is standing at the coffee truck and waiting for the coffee. He turns his head to look at Bree and sees that there's a guy talking to her. 45. As soon as he gets the coffee cups, he hurries towards them. BACK TO BREE AND BRYAN: Bryan has already got on Bree's nerves. It is written all over her face. He is doing it intentionally. BRYAN (CONT'D) (shows a blonde girl who is coming towards them) Oh, here she comes! (to the blonde girl) I'm right here, love! (to Bree) It is my girlfriend. She is from the UK. Isn't she perfect? The blonde girl and Kaden reach them at the same time. BRYAN (CONT'D) (to Bree) Allow me to introduce my princess, Annabel, to you. ANNABEL (with a huge smile on her face, holds out her hand) Hi! I'm Annabel! Nice to meet you! Bree reaches out to shake her hand. Kaden is still quiet. He is examining the situation and has already understood what is going on. Bryan suddenly sees him. BRYAN (to Bree) Who is he? Kaden immediately reaches out his hand for a handshake, too. KADEN Hi. I'm Kaden. And they shake hands. BRYAN (surprised) Already got a boyfriend? BREE Why not? You already got a girlfriend, right? 46. Kaden smiles. Bryan apparently lost interest. BRYAN Okay, Bree. It was nice to see you again. See you around. Bree just forces a smile again in response. Bryan and his girlfriend leave. And Kaden gives one of the coffee cups to Bree. KADEN Here you are. BREE (takes it) Oh, thank you. Then they go on walking. After a while Bree breaks the silence. BREE (CONT'D) Thank you. KADEN For what? BREE For not revealing my lie in front of Bryan. KADEN Lie? BREE You know... I let him think you were my boyfriend. KADEN Oh, don't worry about that. And smiles. Bree smiles, too. KADEN (CONT'D) Ex-boyfriend? BREE Yeah. KADEN I see. Things didn't work out. BREE He never liked my lifestyle. 47. KADEN I like your lifestyle. Bree laughs. They walk for a while without talking. Then Kaden breaks the silence. KADEN (CONT'D) I owe you an apology. Bree looks at him. KADEN (CONT'D) This is another one. (smiles) I almost forgot about it. And just remembered today, at the care home, when I saw Mr. Edison. Bree is listening carefully. KADEN (CONT'D) I saw you.. I mean, you and another girl, with him at a pub. It was just the day I saw you on the street. Now Bree remembers it, too. BREE Let me guess. You took it the wrong way again? KADEN (smiles) Yeah, I did. (pause) I'm really sorry, Bree. Bree laughs. BREE You know, now when I think and imagine all the things, the scenes you saw me in, I can understand you. I really do. And they laugh. AFTER A WHILE. It is dark already. They have reached the neighbourhood where Bree lives. Kaden is telling some funny story and Bree is laughing. When they reach Bree's apartment block, they stop to say bye to each other. 48. BREE Thank you for walking me home. KADEN It was my pleasure. Thank you for letting me do it. BREE Okay then, have a good night. KADEN Good night, Bree. See you. Bree turns to enter the block. Kaden calls out after her. KADEN (CONT'D) How about having dinner together? Tomorrow? Bree turns around and looks at him. BREE Are you asking me out on a date now? KADEN Would that be too bold? Bree smiles. BREE No. Why not? Kaden is happy. KADEN So tomorrow? Bree nods 'yes'. KADEN (CONT'D) Okay! Great! I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow evening! 7 pm. Okay? BREE Okay. KADEN Good night! See you tomorrow! BREE Good night. 49. And she enters the block. After she enters the building, Kaden leaves, too.
