“Who is that? “
“Why does she cover her ears?”
“What a weird bag?”
I just hear questions as the villagers approach us. Yera seems very calm, although when one villager says she covers her ears, he falters for a second. I don't know if they have humans in this world. So I will just keep my hat on for safety for now.
“My people, this is Sarah. She has lost her way and has asked to join the village. She has helped me by treating my wounded arm and thus earned my thanks.”
He presents his arm to the village and you can just hear mumbles all around as they look at me. I know I look weird, but they look just as weird to me. But I must say the children are super cute with the little cat ears. I just want to cuddle one. I wonder if interspecies breeding is even possible. However, that is not a worry for now. Now, I must survive and adapt to this new wondrously weird world.
After chatting with villagers and some introductions. Yera shows me around and takes me to a large hut at the far end of the village. He tells me that this is his hut and there are currently no extra huts available. I can share his hut in the meantime.
“Don’t you have a wife that would mind this or a girlfriend?”
I ask as I really don’t want to cause unnecessary drama and I might be curious.
“ I have yet to take a wife. But if you feel uncomfortable, I can always ask someone else to take you in.”
“No, I am fine with sharing a hut with you. I just didn’t want to be in the way or cause unnecessary trouble for you.”
He smiled at this. It was the first time I saw him smile and it was worth it. He gave me a tour of his hut and showed me the bed I would be sleeping in. There is a separation, so it's like a small room with a simple bed. There is a kitchen with a fireplace that they use for cooking and a primitive form of a bathroom outback. Man, I am going to miss modern plumbing. After the tour I am exhausted, and I wanted to go to bed. Yera insisted on feeding me a goat/sheep, which he called imbuzi first. Finally, this long day ends. I pass out in my new bed. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
