Jade’s POV
I waited outside Anita Lake’s office to be seen for my first ultrasound. I was excited to see my baby, but also sad because I plan on talking to Anita about adoption. Even though I’m earning food and staying in a room in Amos’s home rent free by cleaning, I am worried Amos’s generosity will run thin.
The people here are very nice. I’ve become good friends with Tessa, my lead on the cleaning team. She tells me Amos has a company online and that brings income into the town, and the townspeople do odd jobs throughout the town to earn their keep and a place to stay, though a few of them have jobs in other towns. Like James is currently out of town working.
